Hacking Do I need a special DVD burner to burn ISOs?

Just a quick question. Do I need a special burner or an average one could do the work?

xgd3 = IHAS or sony optiarc

imo it would be cheaper in the long run to buy an ODE and a 2tb external HDD (it pays for itself or i think you can just skip the ODE and just rgh your 360 (but i doubt you are comfortable with hard modding

First you can try "Burner MAX Payload" which has a very large compatibility list, to see if it works with your current drive, be sure to use a a dual layer disc,

if that does not work, you will need one of the following:

Here's a list of compatible DVD burners to properly burn XGD3 games on (the 8.7 GB discs)
As for the DVD media, Verbatin DVD+R DL are the best ones to burn the ISO to.

XGD2 (the 7.5 GB ones) can be burned with any DVD burner but the best thing to do is to invest in a quality burner anyway (makes for better backups for everything)

For XGD2 and AP 2.5 games no, but for XGD3 titles yes.Most of the games from the end of the 2011 til present are XGD3.Older than that is XGD2 and AP 2.5.You also need a Dual-Layer compatible burner because X360 games are DL format.For XGD3 best burners are iHAS 124B (or other B series) and Sony Optiarc 5280S-CB.iHAS needs to be flashed or used with Burner Max Payload tool.Sony Optiarc one doesn't require to be flashed at all or use a payload tool.It can burn XGD3 out of the box.PM me if you need more info.

EDIT: You can try a payload tool for support with other DVD drives but IMO and experience it was just a lot of depressive attempts with a lot of wasted discs.

The Sony Optiarc 5280S-CB-Plus doesn't need to be flashed because it supports overburn natively.

Thanks for the replies. I think I'm going to need a new burner for recent games (luckily most of games which I'm planning to play are old ones). I have a iHAS122-04 WU in my PC and a HL-DT-ST GT32N in my laptop.

Neither of those drives are on the compatibility list.
You could do a test burn, run it through K-probe but I'm afraid you'd have to invest is a proper burner.

Have you patched the ISOs with ABGX?
Do you use high quality backup media, aka Verbatim DVD+R DL?
Any other disc gets burned properly in the burner?

I have patched the iso that isnt the problem;

Quality media high, and i use MOMERIX DVD+R DL

i did burn some discs dvd-rw last mounth and worked perfectly.

Never heard of Momerix.

Try obtaining Verbatim DVDs.
