Guys, I'm at my wits end right now. I've been trying to get Metroid Prime Trilogy to work properly on ANY USB loader on and off for the past few days now, and I have gotten no where. The game boots normally, but crashes when I try to load any of the 3 games within MPT. Game logo, game is loading text, then completely unresponsive. I've searched and I'm not the only one that has had this problem, I just seem to be the only one that can't fix it.
Here's what I have tried to so far:
1. Installed and setup Configurable USB Loader using
this guide. Successfully installed, and ripped Metroid Prime 3 and Metroid Prime Trilogy using my discs. Using IOS 248, Metroid Prime 3 runs flawlessly, Metroid Prime Trilogy boots normally but crashes upon loading a game.
2. Completely updated my HBC and BootMii using
this guide. Installed BootMii as boot2, made a NAND backup. Updated my cIOS using the recommended settings in
this guide.
3. Installed and setup the latest version of USB Loader GX, hoping I would have more luck with it. Booted up my rips, this time using IOS 249, no change in result. Metroid Prime 3 is flawless, Metroid Prime Trilogy crashes in the exact same manner.
4. Did some searching,
found someone else that had the same problem, read all the suggestions and solutions that followed that post which led me to installing d2x v8 instead of the ones that were suggested in the guide I had previously followed. Installed d2x v8 with base 56 on IOS 249, and base 57 on IOS 250. Booting the game with 249 was the same result as before, and 250 didn't even successfully boot the game, I just get a crash to black screen.
5. Ran SysCheck 2.4.0, used ModMii to update my softmods. Tried booting the game again afterwards, same result. If I run SysCheck now, ModMii says all my softmods are up to date.
Things I haven't tried yet:
1. The alternative .dol method, but from what I can gather this isn't necessary anymore and I shouldn't have to.
2. WiiFlow. But if MPT didn't work on CFG or GX I don't have a lot of confidence that WiiFlow will be any different. But I'm tired of setting up different USB loaders, and I like the GUI in GX, I just want it to work with MPT.
3. A different external hard drive. I'm using a Seagate Backup Plus Slim 2TB 2.5" Portable External Hard Drive, formatted as NTFS. I don't currently have another drive I can use that has enough storage for MPT as it's a dual layer disc, and uses almost the entire disc size even ripped as wbfs. I can't reformat to FAT32 since I have important files on this drive, but NTFS shouldn't be a problem anyways. Is there a chance that my drive is the problem? Again, my rip of Metroid Prime 3 runs flawlessly, so I doubt the drive is a problem.
4. Redump the game after installing USB Loader GX. I'm still using my dumps that I made with CFG, however, I did dump MPT as an iso and a wbfs while I was using CFG, to see if it would make any difference. It didn't.
I have no idea what to do now, I've hit a brick wall. I've followed every step meticulously, and with great care to not mess anything up. As far as I can tell, I've done everything right, and there shouldn't be any reason why this isn't working.
