Prboom and tyrquake are in that list of precompiled libretro cores, they might need game wads to actually run but they'd be your best bet to getting them up and running quickly.

What is the best way to make my NES mod stable?

I have 2 modded systems which both developed issues within the first week after modding with 2.11.

For one, my screen turned blank.

For the other, all the games and folders just disappeared, leaving the home menu there with no game folders.

Is there any way to make sure these issues won’t arise again?

I am not sure what you did wrong, it should work. Are you experimenting with RetroArch? Otherwise I would wait for the next version of Hakchi2, software is getting more stable with every version. Are you using the same PC when applying the hack? Both machines should act similarly.

Well Quake works with that Tyrquake libretro core. Doesn't seem hardware accelerated though, but runs at full speed in the default resolution.

Doom as well with the prboom libretro core. I only tried the shareware versions to keep the size down, but they play fine. Use a classic controller though.

Make sense it isn't hardware accelerated, but that is great news. You just checked and tested this out?
