I've been following the 3DS guide at https://3ds.guide to update my original 3DS.

I have a USA 3DS and due to Nintendo's stupid region locking rule I can't play any games from here in the UK.

I'm following the guide at https://3ds.guide/installing-arm9loaderhax.

I'm currently at "Section II - Installing arm9loaderhax".

My firmware has been downgraded to 2.1.0-4U, but I still have the browser. However, when I enter http://2xrsa.3ds.guide in the browser, I see the message about arm11.bin loading, but nothing happens and then the 3DS crashes. Pressing select does nothing.

I've went through the whole installation process two times now and nothing works.

Any idea what is causing all of this?

Is there another guide I can follow or a different application I can use to upgrade the firmware and get Luma3DS installed.

Thanks.

Have you tried deleting browser history and cookies then trying 2xrsa again?
And make sure arm9.bin and arm11.bin are on the root of the sd card.
Yeah I've did those things already. They're noted in the guide troubleshooting area. Still no luck.

With regards to arm9.bin and arm11.bin, those aren't on the root of the SD card.

I rechecked the guide at 3ds.guide and there is no mention of either of those files on the arm9loaderhax tutorial.

I installed arm9loaderhax.

In the next step I'm supposed to press select whilst booting up. I've tried doing that many times but it just boots up normally.

Is there any way to check that Luma3ds has been installed correctly?

Are you just pressing Select or are you holding down Select when you boot? You have to hold down Select.

Try booting without the SD card. If it boots normally then you haven't installed a9lh.

Yeah it didn't boot so looks like a9lh isn't installed.

I resolved the issue, but I will note them here for others that may have a similar problem.

I went through the install process again but when I ran 2xrsa.3ds.guide I got the following error message:

"the payload_stage1.bin you're attempting to install is not compatible"

I checked the a9lh folder and all the files are there: payload_stage1.bin, payload_stage2.bin, secret_sector.bin, firm1.bin, firm0.bin, firm0_100.bin, otp.bin

I downloaded the arm9loaderhax zip file again and copied over the payload_stage1.bin and payload_stage2.bin files and ran the 2xrsa.3ds.guide installation process again and it worked. :)

Sorry for the late reply. I didn't get a notification about it.

I got this installed after going back and reinstalling certain steps.
