Hi,

i'm pretty new to 3ds. I've got a old 3ds(one of the first models) and i have FW 10.1.0-27E and bought a couple of weeks ago a DSTwo plus card. but it seems i can't play 3ds cause my FW is to new.

also read about CFW and FW downgrading.

What is the best to do or use?

I want to play 3ds,ds,gb(a),nes, snes and other emulators if possible.

I'm a bit lost....and hope you can help me.

Thanks

You have a New3DS, so the best way to play all of those (minus the DS) is to setup a free CFW and run it through A9LH. I heavily suggest not using the DSTWO+ because it's kind of crap and the 11.3 update will break it because it runs an out of date NATIVE_FIRM
So I suggest starting with this guide
https://3ds.guide/
DO NOT UPDATE YOUR SYSTEM UNTIL THE END OF GUIDE!
From there use ROM injections for everything (minus the DS) and CIAs for 3DS games. DS games you will need a flashcart. I honestly suggest going with the R4i Gold. The DSTwo is nice, but literally cuts your battery life in half.
I also heavily suggest checking out my 2 stickies.

These aren't just shameless plugs, they are there to help educate you. Don't blindly follow the guide, read ahead, study it, understand it. There are some extremely important steps you need to know about

For 3DS games use CFW

For the rest use the DSTwo

Don't you dare to use the 3DS part of the DSTwo unless you want a brick lol, it uses Gateway software which they implemented a brick code that activates when you run GW software on a Non-Gateway card.

Also, what happened to that ReiNAND thing for DSTwo?

It no longer uses the gateway mode. They now boot into a CFW called "FreeCFW." Which is a CFW made from ReiNAND, expect they stripped out code (or based it on an early build,) so it no longer has FIRM0/1 protection, only boots to an emuNAND, and lacks several other features. Basically they stole more code and called it their own, just like they did when they stole the Gateway launcher. Or like how they are re-branding community made plugins as their own.
Supercard is literally the scummiest of the scum.

I see! Well thanks for telling me! In my view it's something better than using Gateway and bricking the consoles. I don't support that they stole the code but at least there's something good in all that bad, no more brick code :P

Again, thanks for telling me :)

Now I am not about to defend bricking systems, that's just too extreme. But think about why Gateway did it, at the time there were cheaper carts popping up left and right and all using Gateway's code. This meant that gateway was loosing money and worst of all, from their own code. So they had to do something to stop these clones. Now they should have added something like akAIO did which either caused the cart to fail to boot and or warned the user that it wasn't a legit cart.
Supercard on the other hand for me are just straight up code thieves. They deliberately used the Gateway code, fully knowing an update could break systems. Then when it happened, took an open-source project, closed it off, didn't credit the dev, removed code, ect.
Yeah, the brick code is bad. But I can't overlook someone deliberately using code they knew would cause bricks.
