There's still people running just base Haxchi? Don't be afraid of CBHC, if Haxchi is already working for you, CBHC will not brick your system. All the CBHC bricks are because people skipped the base Haxchi install as a test - it's a lot easier to come back from a screwed up Haxchi install than it is CBHC.

If you know Haxchi works on your system, CBHC works too.
What is the difference between haxci and CBHC

There are no perceptible advantages for my purposes vs. using Haxchi when Haxchi loads CFW, Sigpatches, libfat by holding B *shrug*. Works fine for me. The ISO images that crashed seem to be corrupted.

YMMV

Meh, I don't mind the extra steps, just don't need to coldboot for my purposes, it ain't broke, don't fix it. Gonna try other ISO images as Rondo of Blood booted up fine, the others, not so much.
You might check the cue files, it could be something wrong with them.

There's still a constant risk: your system menu becomes a DS Virtual Console game. If for some random reason it gets erased or corrupted, you brick your Wii forever. I'll install CBHC once we have sure tools to recover a NAND and keys backup, like we have now on 3DS.

Yeah, again, gonna have to try a different rip of the images, and then test them on the PC port first; if they work on the PC port, they should work on the Wii U port.

Does it matter which PCE/TG core we use?

The problem could be that there are like five or six different bios files for turbo graphx cd games and you need the right one for the game you are trying to play. Like Rondo of blood only works on the 3.0 bios and lemmings works on only bios 2.1 and 3.0. So you will need to find the right one for your game to work.

And as for the cores, which TG core do we use? Or does it not matter? Does it hurt to have multiple BIOS files?

Any core works the problem is any bios you use has to be named syscard3 or else it does not work in retroarch. So you have to rename it for each game that uses a different bios each time you want to play that game which makes it hard to swap between games quickly.

That would certainly explain it, but how do we know which games work with which BIOS? Man, talk about convoluted, hopefully there will be a solution for that, sadly, I'm not holding my breath.

There is zero websites I can find with the info I have just had to try all the bios files to see what ones work but like I said I have only tried rondo of blood and lemmings I may do a proper guide for all cd games when I am off work for a week at the end of the month.

I know which one loads Rondo of Blood, but the others, eh...I take it the same applies for normal TG/PCE games?

I'm happy with just Haxchi, but even if I wasn't I still wouldn't touch CBHC. I'm not concerned with bricking, something else about it just doesn't sit right with me.

I use syscard3.pce for any TG/PCE/CD/supergrafx games, always works. About the core, mednafen_pce_fast_libretro works with regular and cd games, mednafen_supergrafx_libretro only works with supergrafx games.

Even games that are NTSC-J/Japan games? Okay, I'll remove that other core since I don't plan on playing SuperGrafx games. Well either way, Japanese games I tried didn't work so I got another dump of them, gonna test them on the PC port first. I hate having to unplug every time it freezes.

Works both for USA/Japan games.
