I know this is possible. But i can't find the bit on info i need to do that.

Problem: Some great games (like the NDS Castlevania titles) have the actual gameplay on the lower screen, and the map on the upper. It's not possible to switch the screens via Nintendo's VC settings. But it's possibe at all via editing some files.

I really want to play those games with the gameplay on the TV-Screen, and the map on the Wii U gamepad, does anyone know how to do that?

Uhh... no. What i mean is the following: In the VC Menu for NDS titles you have ... i think, 4 display options. But you can't completely switch the upper and the lower screen. This is a real tragedy for games like Castlavania, because there is no "official way", to display the gameplay on the big TV screen, and the map on the Wii U gamepad. It only works the other way: The stupid map is displayed on the TV screen, and the gameplay on the Wii U gamepad. But with a little file editing this can be changed, i just forgot how...

Ah yeah...that I completely agree with you.
I think you can further modify with pushing the up dpad button, not sure though...

But i don't know what exactly what values to change...

Option 2 depending upon the accuracy of the emulation and whether you can inject an essentially identical copy of the game into the emulator is use a cheat. One discussion of such things

Also depending upon the castlevania (especially the first) you might have a stupid touchscreen gimmick in there

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way

Just give it a try, but honestly if you have a 3DS you can play DS games without a card just off the internal SD card
