There are people who got black screen even though they followed the guide correctly (That's what they claim)m
Such as @Lilligant case that nobody can find it cause since it fixed already. Also @amximo case that we not sure what the cause of his problem.
So, I would say there always a risk but very very very low.

Atleast, if OP following the guide correctly and have a Nand Back Up, the brick can still be fixed by hardmod except some user error brick.
I'll hold judgement until the brick is confirmed - as I think there is some confusion on this one.

But forced power off glitched screen shouldn't affect anything. Pressing select then panicing and forcing off - is just asking for a brick.

Anyone who wants to a9lh there systems needs to have the guide open in front of them and at least read a few steps/bullet points ahead while doing the a9lh'ing.

Edit: Nvm.

This is a must doing thing. People shoudn't messing with A9LH unless they know what they do.
This way, thier console will safe or can be fix if accidently brick not by user error.

Just making sure I got this right: I need to redo everything in the arm9loaderhax installation section and ONLY that? That's what I'm gathering from you guys.

is that when this guide was posted? or did u use a different guide?
The actual version of the guide that uses only fasthax and direct CTRNand transfer was posted on January 2017. This very month.

If you're already on firmware version 2.1, yes. YES.
