Hello everyone.

I have sucessfully A9LH'd a friend's 11.0 3DS, and now I see how great it is with my own eyes!
So, I wish to do the same now.
One problem is that I have an emuNAND and obviously, I don't want to lose my games, saves and StreetPass that's on there.

I have an old 3DS, 9.2 sysNAND, using Menuhax to boot Luma3DS emuNAND, so in other words, I don't use my sysNAND atm, which means all my stuff is on emuNAND.

So my question is, can you/is it possible/is it safe to restore the emuNAND in your sysNAND?

What to do after A9LH'ing my system? Just reformat the SD Card and put the stuff back on the SD Card?
Help is really appreciated.

EDIT: Can you also just skip the fasthax/safehax section in the guide when on 9.2?

Thanks in advance.

Just follow the guide http://3ds.guide/ as is. It will guide you all the way from setting up a9lh to transferring emunand to sysnand.

I suggest not to skip steps especially if you're still new in the scene.

When you follow the guide you have the option to use your sysnand or your emunand towards the end. Personally when I had an emunand I followed the guide and used my emunand. About a year after doing I have experienced zero problems.

I strongly recommend that you make a backup of your emunand as well as everything on your sd card and keep those backups in a safe place or three before you even touch the a9lh guide.

Also keep in mind that there is no reason why you can't use emunand with a9lh though most people don't bother since DS/DSi mode stuff and GBA stuff don't work very well with emunand regardless of how you boot it.

I think that you would only use fasthax/safehax if you were on firmware higher than 9.2. Not too sure though. I never had to do it.

I know I can use emuNAND with A9LH, but saving 1 GB and not worrying about booting emuNAND again after a GBA/DS game, so, a good reason to ditch the emuNAND I believe.
Also I never got TWLoader Launcher app working.

This means I can just skip it in the guide and continue to Decryp9WIP directly.

I think the whole point of fasthax/safehax was for firmware higher than 9.2 to access Decryp9WIP.

Correct, if you are on 9.2 then you can just run decrypt9 directly.

I don't think that fasthax/safehax are compatible with 9.2 but if you are on 9.2 then you can just run decrypt9 directly.

Yeah, that would be a good reason. I still have a 10.3 emunand that I never use simply because I don't want to bother having to backup and restore 70GB of data on my SD card.

Also, since you are on 9.2, you should be able to ignore the fasthax/safehax steps and just run decrypt9wip.3dsx but those are the only steps you can skip, do not skip anything else. The worst that will happen is that decrypt9wip won't boot.

Never skips steps (only the fasthax/safehax one) and always make backups.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

And make sure you have room in your SD card.

Yes, thanks. Ofcourse never skip steps other than fast/safehax, makes it clear to skip only those 2, thanks.

It's compatible alright. Though he can run Decrypt9 directly without fasthax and safehax, a lot of new users tends to skip a few steps just to save a little time and ends up screwing up.

Remember OP, you're just saving a few seconds if you skip safehax and fasthax. However, you'll take a lot more minutes if you screwed up. But it's your 3ds so do as you please.

PS. you'll have to extract the Decrypt9WIP folder to the /3ds folder for it to show up in the homebrew launcher. But I think you already know that.

Yep I know, I even had to switch computers while A9LH'ing the friend's 3DS because nightshift was over and couldn't make it in time, so yes, I was very careful and spent more time to check the SD Card then doing the guide LMAO.

basically, all you need to do is dump your emunand (maybe dump it up twice just in case) with decrypt9, then do the 2.1 ctrnand transfer, install a9lh as you already did for your friend, then instead of restoring a sysnand backup as you would have done on your friends 3ds (which you could skip entirely i guess), restore that emunand backup and you're done. no need to go through the injecting fbi steps and stuff.
afterwards, copy everything from sd to pc, use decrypt9 to remove emunand partition and format cart, put stuff from pc back to sd and there you go, you got that gb of space back too.

Thanks a lot everyone, really helpful. One thing though I forgot to ask, do I need to remove menuhax before using the guide?
I think it breaks itself along the way. I don't remember but if you don't have menuhax you wouldn't have a way into Decrypt9WIP.

I'm happy! I have A9LH now!
It still kept the Zelda 4Swords save though. I barely touched other GBA games so those saves were empty anyways.
Those are also on Wii U VC which I prefer to play that on ^^

I just joined the glorious A9LH Master Race!
Dirty Menuhax / rxTools peasants!
