There are inherent risks to these processes that are very improbable, but I wouldn't do the process again for fear of them on an already modded device.

I think your 2DS should cite double jeopardy. "[N]or shall any person be subject for the same offence to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb"

But seriously, if you want to do it just use decrypt9 to restore your pre a9lh nand.

Edit: Can't you just show him a video of someone installing a9lh on youtube?

You want to reset it and do the whole process over just to show a friend how to do it? (I mean... it's not my 3DS.. *sips tea*)

But like everyone suggested, IF you do have a 9.2 NAND Backup (which you should) just restore that with Hourglass9 (if you're using Decrypt9 make sure to not use the "keep A9LH" option) and you should be golden.

Hourglass9 can't remove a9lh, it will always keep it on a NAND restore. He has to use decrypt9 and choose the restore option without "(keep a9lh)."

Oh yea, that's right. I forgot Hourglass9 was stripped of that option because it was meant to be noob-friendly :P thanks for correcting me tho.

I honestly haven't payed enough attention to notice, but doesn't safea9lhinstaller have an uninstall option? Thought I remembered hearing that it did...

It does, but then that would mean he's stuck on a vanilla firmware on the latest update (which I'm assuming updated).

And we all know the pain of installing A9LH on 11.2

True, but if he doesn't have a pre-a9lh NAND backup, he could make backup for safety, downgrade, then uninstall. Pretty sure any cia downgrader should work on Luma with any system version. If I'm not mistaken the CFW patches the version list on 11.0+.

Seems like a feasible solution, but I'm not too sure about it myself.

If he really wants to do it, why not make an emuNAND and downgrade that? Doesn't that remove most of the risk? I vaguely remember the Guide making you downgrade your emuNAND and flash that to sysNAND before CTRNAND transfer.

If he downgrades with a9lh, there is no risk. If the downgrade fails he can just simply restore a NAND backup. It would be pointless to do it on emunand because he wants to REMOVE a9lh. If his sysnand is on 11.0 or above, and it likely is with a9lh, then he needs to downgrade his sysnand FIRST. If he doesn't, then after removing a9lh, he will be on stock 11.2 or whatever and wont be able to redowngrade and reinstall a9lh without dsiware or hardmod.

Actually, Hourglass9 wouldn't work as it ALWAYS keeps A9LH.

SafeA9LHInstaller can remove the A9LH, OP has to just restore to 9.2 in Hourglass9, test if sysNAND is on 9.2, then use SafeA9LHInstaller to uninstall. I see this more simpler because what if OP accidentally flashes a wrong NAND and bricks it? Or if it installed the NAND wrongfully then sysNAND does not boot, and he does not have A9LH?

Not saying the Decrypt9 is a bad idea, i just prefer to be safe :3
