Hacking Whats the best and most reliable micro SD card to get?

Preferably 64GB. I currently have a 64GB Sandisk Ultra that is having problems and i want to replace it, thanks for any recommendations!

I just got a SanDisk and it has been really weird, I can't say I recommend them. However, when I was at target getting one of my new 3dses, I picked up a Lexar 32GB, and it works like a charm. Fast boot time, large storage, and doesn't corrupt easily.

I'd recommend either a lexar (cause the 3ds comes stock with those, like OOTB type stuff) or a Samsung, cause they are actually built to last. But more the lexar, cause that's the one Nintendo ships it with and it also isn't ridiculously overpriced. And never get an abacus, the 3ds dosemt detect it


And the sandisk i originally had was kinda suckish, had to return it for a replacement. Was weird cause it passed the benchmark test with flying colors, but in actual use, would drop to 3 mb a second write speed

I've used Sandisk, Samsung, and Kingston for years. Thus far, the only one I've had issues with is the Samsung and it's not even the card itself that I have an issue with. It's actually the price, seriously the Samsung MicroSD cards are slower than the Sandisk, but are sold at either the same price or higher. Not OK with that.
Still, I've never had issues with Sandisk before, in fact my first 4GB was a Sandisk and it lasted 11 years. Kingston also seems to another sold brand for me.
IDK, I've just never had issues with them before.

I couldn't disagree more. I buy Samsung microSD cards exclusively because of their speed and reliability. Never had issues with any of them. But Kingston fails me hard. None of these are bought online, so I know they're not "fakes". Sandisk has been reliable, but my only Sandisk cards are class 4, so I can't vouch for their speeds compared to my Samsungs. I got two 128GB Samsung microSD cards on Black Thursday for only $25 each. They're in my 2DS and New 3DS.

It might just be my area, because the Samsungs sold in the stores here are a little slower than the Sandisk. I know because I bought one when it was on sale and tested it. It wasn't by a lot, but it was the speed the box claimed it to be.
But they are the same price as the Sandisk of the same size and slightly higher speed.

So my issue actually isn't the product, the product is fine. It's that in my area, the price doesn't quite add up to me. This could be different for other areas.

I've always found SanDisk cards excellent. Been using a 128 gig one for like 2 years now and it's been absolute gold.

Does anyone know if theres a difference between class 10 (the 10 with a circle around it on a micro sd card) than UHS-1? (number 1 with a "U" around it) I have a 32gb Class 10 Sandisk and a 64gb Class 10 Sandisk. Both say Class 10 on packaging, but on the cards, 32gb shows the 10 with a circle and the 64gb shows 1 with a "U" around it.. are they the same thing? I've seen Amazon Sandisk 64gb class 10 with the 10 and circle not the 1 with "U"
I had got the 32 from Amazon and 64 from Best Buy.

I bought two 64GB Sandisk cards (not even at the same time, and I bought them in stores so they can't be fake), and both of them went read-only by themselves exactly* 2 years after their purchase (and don't tell me about the slider on the side, they were micro SD cards). And my sister's boyfriend had one too, and just before my second card died, he told me his went read-only for no reason, exactly* two years after he bought it too. Now we both bought Samsung cards and have yet to encounter any problem.

*note: when I say "exactly", I don't mean that I wrote all dates down, I mean that it wasn't 37 months the first time then 8 the second time etc, but really approximately 24 everytime.

If you are asking cause you want to use one with the Nintendo 3DS, the issue might be cause you are using a card higher than 32GB, As nintendo have listed no SD card bigger than 32GB on their sight meaning that compatibility will be lower if using them, so if you want better compatibility, then use any of the ones stated on their site, I use a 32GB sandisk Class 4 micro sd card (black) and never had problems with any nintendo system.

Of course many people here just ignore this cause it is working for them anyway, buying a larger card, formatting it to fat32 and using it. I thought about it myself and i thought perhaps instead of just formatting a larger card to fat 32 instead partition it that maybe it could be a better decision, but is just a idea as i haven't tried cause not being able to find a larger card like 64GB for fair price. (Black friday sold out of all the 64GB cards for $15, which sucks.)

If you want a card working least longer than most with the system, just get one from the list nintendo approved of, Once again, a sandisk 32GB class 4 works just as fine. Just make sure to use the official sd formatter before using it. Also please make sure you do not get any fake cards, usually no name branded ones or has a very supicious price tag "If is too good to be true" kind of thing.

My experience with Kingston is they fail pretty quickly. i went through at least 4 this year the 32gb class 10 ones. Eventually they lose performance, wont load up when inserted to PC, (randomly will work or not.) They are cheap in price perhaps for a reason. But i will compare them to the Maxtor of HDD's or Seagate. Not reliable in the long run.

You should consider buying a kingston micro sd or Sandisk, but be aware of the chinese clones.

Also try buying a higher class card for higher r/w speeds and don't forget to format them to FAT32 using SD Formatter to ensure best function.

Samsung EVO Plus (red cards not the orange non plus versions)

Don't buy them off ebay as there is a ton of Chinese fakes of these cards but Amazon etc will sort you out with a real one.

There was a massive test on the Raspberry Pi to find the very best card in terms of reliability and speed and these came out on top.

I use Integral cards. They work fine but they're really cheap for a reason and that's because they stop writing after 3-6 months of heavy use.

honestly, I have used a ton of sd cards with my system, and pretty much every major brand. I always get a class 10 sd card and see no real difference in speeds, besides regular size sd cards, which tend to be faster with the usb 3.0 sd card reader I use. I have had no reliability issues with any of my cards besides this 32 micro sandisk sd card. It got corrupted, but that was most defiantly from me stupidly putting it in my phone to transfer files and not ejecting it properly. I am currently using a 64 sandick, and it has been working for me for almost a year now between 3 systems. Other then that, and micro sd card from a reputable brand with a class 10 rating will be perfect. Just make back ups of your saves every once in a while and put them on a cloud service and your computer in case your sd corrupts.
