Hacking Planning on getting a PS3 soon

I've got a few questions first. Since i'll be getting a first gen PS3, are there any caveats to modding it? anything to make it hard?

Is it easy to softmod (if possible)?
What are my choices on emulators?
How easy is the hard drive to upgrade?
What's the best CFW for the PS3?
What's the best PS2 loader?
What's the best PS3 loader?
Are there any good custom themes like on the PSP?

I don't plan on going online with it, so don't even bother.

Also, this'll be my first ps3 ever. I've never had a PS3, nor have i really used one prior

Is it easy to softmod (if possible)? well if you are on 3.55 or lower. yes. if not you need to get a hardware and downgrade to 3.55 ! not all PS3's are hackable. !

How easy is the hard drive to upgrade? maybe someone else can clear this one, for example i have two PS3's one hacked which i dont touch the harddrive because its an hassle. the non-hacked is simple cause you dont need to do much really.

What's the best PS2 loader? Open rebug toolbox and enable Cobra.
What's the best PS3 loader? multiMAN
Are there any good custom themes like on the PSP? I think they is but i never mess around with themes.


i think your asking too much questions at once. in that it could confuse you. not all PS3's are hackable. find one that is.


dont even brother with an Super slim if you want it hacked.

I'ts running 4.66, so i'll have to get myself a soldering iron and a modchip i guess

is it a fat PS3?

no soldering need if you get e3 flasher thats what i did.

i think (THINK) all fats are hackable not too sure tho..

it all comes down to if your PS3 manufactured with firmware 3.55 or lower. then its hackable.
