First, I apologize if my question might be unrelated to Luma3DS, but I'm kinda desperate.

My camera suddenly doesn't work, when I press L+R on the home menu, the top screen only shows black screen. But strangely, the QR code function still works. I also can play Face Raiders, that AR shooter game that use the outer camera.

I tried to use QR function from Pokemon Sun this morning, the camera loaded just fine, it could scan QR code. But just now I tried it again, it doesn't work. The camera won't load.

Does anyone know what might have cause this? Is it possibly related to Luma CFW?

Thank you.
Have you checked with another Custom Firmware? I've just checked on my 3ds. but camera works fine! Luma6.6 nightly build.

Alright, my question was whether you see the option "Autoboot SysNAND" among the options in your config screen though. Do you see it or is it missing?
No I don't. Options are:
Screen Brightness, Splash, Pin Lock, New 3DS CPU, Dev. features, Enable loading external FIRMs and modules, Use custom path, Enable region/language emu. and ext. .code, Show NAND or user string in System Settings, Show GBA boot screen in patched AGB_FIRM, Patch SVC/service/archive/ARM9 access

EDIT : NVM, I should read the FAQ better. Better question : I was reading up on the Enable region/language emulation and external .code feature, something I checked thinking it would do stuff alone. Yet, I am able to play japanese and US games like DQ Monsters or River City Tokyo Rumble without going with the steps given. Am I installing 'region free" games without knowing ?

Alright, so that means your 3DS is not loading arm9loaderhax.bin from your SD card and is instead loading it from NAND. What size SD card do you have? Try re-downloading Luma3DS and copying over a new arm9loaderhax.bin to replace the existing one in case it's corrupted.

I'm currently using a 16GB for the time being however in the next week I had planned on upgrading to a 128gb. I'll try everything you said and edit with what result I get.

EDIT: Downloaded the files again and replaced them and nothing changed as if I didn't touch anything.

I read the patch notes for the past two versions and it seems I need to get clean installs of some stuff? 6.6 boots to a black screen and I'm not entirely sure what to do. 6.3.1 still works fine but I like to keep the latest version on.

No, I haven't. I'm worried it would cause more trouble. I updated Luma to latest nightly build just now, the camera still doesn't work :(

Ah well, I guess I just have to live with it. Thanks for the reply.

If I'm not installing A9LH to my Luma do I still have to copy the arm9loaderhax.bin file to the root of the SD Card? not sure as it says I HAVE TO DO IT

Can someone opinion me on all these new-fangled updates? I am so far behind, so much has happened since I touched my 3DS.
My N3DS is on sysNAND 9.0.0-20, and running reiNAND on 9.5.xx. My 2DS is on 4.4 i think, running rxTools 10.3.0-28.
Previously, you could simply update your emuNAND through the Settings menu. I am guessing that is no longer possible.
Never could do that on the N3DS, only on my 2DS. Been stuck on 9.5 for a while now. I think I am using menuhax to hold L on boot, then kicks into Homebrew Launcher. From there, I go to rei.
(but I have a problem with that. 4 of 10 times rei refuses to boot. Not sure what is going on there.)

What's currently the best way to handle upgrading? I've read enough to see that Luna seems to be the preferred option now, but I am highly confused as to how it operates over rei and rx-tools.
I thought the point of using emuNAND was to protect the sysNAND, no?
Basically, I do not want to lose all the stuff I have installed, or have to re-install it all. That would take days. Also not too trusting about being able to save my saves.

Since you have left a new boot time exploit has been released. It's called arm9loaderhax and works on all 3ds models from 9.0-9.2. The installation methods are different for n3ds and o3ds but they reach the same end goal. I would suggest following this guide

https://plailect.github.io/Guide/installing-arm9loaderhax

Once installed emunand is redundant since sysnand is completely protected from bricks since the exploit happens so early during the boot chain that we can restore Nand backups even if bricked. So no more need for emunand since sysnand is also fully updateable

You can still just update normally through the settings menu. Just make sure you're actually really in emunand. Luma is AuReiNand rebranded, same project. Follow https://plailect.github.io/Guide/ to get on a9lh.

edit: forgot to mention that you no longer need emunand. In that guide above, you should follow the instructions to inject your old emunand into sysnand if you want to save 1-2GB of space on your SD card and remove a redundant nand

Thanks for the input guys. I already have that guide open and viewing. Trying my best to understand how everything works before I move forward.
What if I want to keep both. The reiNAND and use Luna. I've read comments on it, but nothing seemed clear to me.
Also, are there any disadvantages to using rei over Luna? I'd like to be able to continue using NTR mods and stuff with Luna if that is possible.
Sorry for all the questions. It's like a whole new world now. LoL

You sure about that? Back when I was getting rei up and going, I remember there being a point where you could no longer update via the Settings update option. In fact, I don't think you were ever able to on the N3DS. Maybe that came later on with rei, not sure. FWIW, I believe I'm on the 3rd update from the original release of rei. Yeah... that old.
So are you saying that I can update to the newest FW on the 2DS running rx-tools? Surely rx-tools would need to be updated.

RX-tools is dead. AuReiNand is dead. Long live Luma. And yes, I am sure that once you are a9lh'd up you can just verify your firm string (should says "Sys ", not "Ver.") and hit update. Doesn't matter O3DS or N3DS. If you want to keep using NTR on the latest 11.2, you need https://github.com/astronautlevel2/BootNTR/releases/
