The vast majority of people wanted IOSU for easier game piracy, e.g. USB game loaders, going from the forum posts here anyway...
In regards to homebrew it doesn't really change that much from what i've gathered. However a permanent exploit that launches when the Wii U boots will hopefully encourage more homebrew development, we will just have to see.

I was pretty sure that IOSU was the last hope of the wiiu scene.
Its kinda true, everything IOSU got us was a way for Developer to use USB in their Homebrew.
The thing is THERE ARE NO DEVELOPER THAT ARE DEVELOPING ANYTHING BESIDES THE ONES THAT MAKES IOSU!!
Except for the recent builds of 10 different libretro cores. That's certainly not nothing.

Exactly and I am willing to bet that a number of devs have other secret projects in the works.
When I think of CFW I think of customised firmware: themes, modded text, alternate music, (sig) patches and splash screens.

In your list you missed out region free lol that is a must of a cfw for me.
Someone on a discord I browse has actually been trying to do this with his redNAND dump. I'm certainly interested to see how it turns out.
