Since I see that people from Newer will be involved, though, I would like to ask if certain features from Newer will make it into this mod.
We won't be taking anything from newer, but we will be having some creative new features just like newer did :P

I just found out about this like, yesterday, and am prepping my console to try it. I almost can't wait for some fun.

Since I see that people from Newer will be involved, though, I would like to ask if certain features from Newer will make it into this mod, as they were what "sold" the game to me and pretty much all of my cousins. These being, namely: the SMB3-like inventory system, the Shy Guys (even the giant ones :P ) and our dear friend, also from SMB3: The Sun.

We're not too sure at this point.

Now, don't get too ambitious, or else you'll end up with a ROM hack that'll never get past planning and alpha stages.

Okay, thanks for the info, also, do you know what's different between "download" and "download layeredFs"?
Oh I didn't know the layeredfs version was available. If you want to use it through hans, just use the download link. If you want to use it through NTR, use the layeredfs version.

This project sounds amazing. I have never finished NSMB2 because the games is boring and did not get my attention. Besides, it is too easy. Really, there's no challenge :(
So, I hope you guys bring a good new super mario bros to 3DS.

OK, Can I use a CIA Installer Version or just the .3ds Version only? Would GateShark Cheats still work or would this require new Addresses?

How so? Mario maker doesn't let you add custom power ups for one. A full modhack of mario is way superior to mario maker. Plus mario maker might not even have online sharing like the Wii one does.

What's to stop some Mario Maker hacking adding custom power ups? online sharing isn't a thing we know that much but I'm sure some homebrew can get around that.

Was just a thought, full rom hacks are awesome regardless of the title used.

Can you link me to said version? (Makes life way easier)

If someone can give us a link to the download of that version we will update the download and tutorial to use that when we have time.

Just ran into a problem. When I typed the command "ctrtool -p --exefs=exefs.bin --romfs=romfs.bin FILENAME.cxi" replacing FILENAME With the name of my .CXI file, it left me with an error message:


"Error, exheader hash mismatch. Wrong key?"

Am I doing anything wrong?
