wait, what? you can do that? do you need to have Aurora wright a9lh to do it?
Update to the latest a9lh (https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki/Updating-A9LH) then download latest luma nightly (https://astronautlevel2.github.io/Luma3DS/builds/Luma-5d868284.zip) Put arm9loaderhax.bin in a folder (the 3ds one is best) Open godmode9 and copy arm9loaderhax.bin from the 3ds folder to the root of sysnand ctrnand. If you have a patched homemenu/NS module install a clean one. Take out sd and boot.

I don't know, the newest a9lh payloads are on the guide, but the guide still says the 3ds won't boot without the sd card in.

It says that because it is waiting for the latest luma stable to come out with support. It works trust me. (I have been using it)
Well, looks like the new A9LH (no cfw) + Nightly Luma is fully working without SD. If you want to try out, download the lastest A9LH binaries provided by from(download the "no cfw" one), install it with SafeA9LHInstaller 2.x, download the lastest nightly of Luma3DS (don't change the path, keep it as default path), put Luma's arm9loaderhax.bin on the root of you CTRNAND with GodMode9 or FBI. Profit!
Do that but download the latest release of a9lh.

What do you mean? Is it like you normally boot without sd card after installing a9lh? Or does it turn on but your not booted into sysnand? If it the last one make sure you turn on autoboot sysnand by holding select while booting)

I have A9LH v2 and I copied arm9loaderhax.bin to the NAND root with Godmode9 but it acts like it normally does and doesn't turn on without the SD card.
