I downloaded a pre-compiled build of Aurora's sd less A9LH from reddit in August, but that post probably dated from before that...Were there any changes made to it since then?

Huh, why? The version in the guide IS the latest release of AW's arm9loaderhax at any time. The guide will probably change accordingly.
The version in the guide requires arm9loaderhax.bin. Unless you're saying that as soon as AW makes an official release, then Plailect will move that to the guide?

That's what has been happening for the last releases. Also, keep in mind that Plailect's guide ALWAYS points to the latest AW's A9LH. Also, iirc, arm9loaderhax.bin will STILL be required. Only it can be loaded from CTRNAND. I'm not completely sure as I haven't read the code, but we'll probably still be able to load a CFW from the SD.

I don't really understand about that. Doesn't the CFW already get loaded from the SD now? What is different?

Oh I get it. So can be loaded from NAND *and* SD. Thanks.
And loading Luma from CTRNAND with all features, don't forget that. that's pretty cool. It's no longer a miniCFW, it's the whole thing.

How many versions of SDless A9LH are there? At least 2 i suppose, the one posted here with a mini cfw in nand (what I have currently) and the one in development?

You can find some precompiled here.
http://mirror.gs2012.xyz/3DS/A9LH

Check ShadowNAND and AW's A9LH.

Well, looks like the new A9LH (no cfw) + Nightly Luma is fully working without SD. If you want to try out, download the lastest A9LH binaries provided by @gnmmarechal (download the "no cfw" one), install it with SafeA9LHInstaller 2.x, download the lastest nightly of Luma3DS (don't change the path, keep it as default path), put Luma's arm9loaderhax.bin on the root of you CTRNAND with GodMode9 or FBI. Profit!

This isn't working. my 3ds is booting but always gives me this error when booting without sd card.

i dont know why tv manufactures put the hdmi ports in dumb locations so the cables have to stick out, and then down, putting strain on the ports. Instead of having the ports along the bottom edge of the tv facing downwards.
