Hello all

Juat wondering if anyone has tested the idea of Shrinking games down to dave some space.

Example Warriors Orochi 3 has over 5gb of mp4 files at 20,000bit rate. ifnyou drop them to 8,000 or 10,000 it will cut the space down in half and keep the quality pretty damn high still. some games use bink video which xbox original used so those an be done with an old tool also.

Anyone test this idea yet.. im just waiting on anfew things and i will do some converting and try it tonight

yeah i shrunk down the videos on hyrule warriors, iirc they were about 8GB i shrank them down to about 600mb while they were quite lossy hyrule warriors ran the videos like crap anyway via loadiine so if anything it helped the game be a bit more playable

You can try to delete some files, like unused files or remplacing files with a "low quality" or copying and pasting a low file. (you can't do this with models, textures, etc, i know only can do this with videos files)

PS: I tried this one time with Zelda TP HD and worked.

EDIT: I remembered you can modify textures/models with a tool, like BrawlBox to low the quality in the textures, or you can modify BFSTM (songs) converting BFSTM to MP3/WAV -> Audacity and lowing the quaility -> Convert the MP3/WAV to BFSTM -> Remplace with the original name and size reduced!

Hi, how do you shrink them?
re-transcode them to a smaller resolution/bitrate with something like handbreak, a lot of wiiu games use mp4 videos so its quite simple to get the file sizes down, but not too many games have huge amounts of videos tbh, but as Alex4U stated you can also deletes some stuff, like on watchdogs iirc you can save about 7-8gb by deleting the game files for other languages

Exactly, but a example:

If you languaje is English ( Wii U) and you delete "ENG" folder, the game won't work.

You can delete "unused folders/models/songs", etc to save space.
but don't delete game files they need.

yeah a bit of common sense is required, dont just go deleting the big files and expect the game to still work, you have to make semi-educated guesses, i.e files will ofen have names like INTRO_ENG.BIN, INTRO_GER.BIN etc, so if you only plan to play in english you can "try" deleting the INTRO_GER.BIN and see if the game still boots and works normal, just be careful and keep backup copies of the stuff you delete just incase it screws something up in the game further into it
