I sometimes get these on many different... systems, on steam, playstation network, wii u... instant messaging, but something just wondered. How do you handle them? Me personally i dunno where they come from. :wtf:

I got one earlier today when i was taking a nap. Is just a friend request, no message, introduction, no "HELLO!" just friend request notification. I don't get them often but when i do i just don't know what to do about it? Should i just accept a random stranger friend request? Send a message... (Even though i think they should have least explained themself first) I don't even know how people are finding me. Is just crazy.

I usually ignore them, if they try again i'll add them and ask who they are and where did they find me

80% of time I just accept them. Because why not?
Umm i dunno, that what you should be telling me. :P

But why would you accept a friend request from total stranger, least not even have a conversation with them first. O_O

Is just supicious that stuff happens with no knowledge of things, i least like to know reasons be hind the actions. But i don't want to believe someone just happen to find my Playstation username among all millions of them to even send me a request. :ninja:

Because I can, I like to see what will happen.
Take into consideration that my boyfriend was just a random friend request from 8 years ago.

Hmmm maybe its because you post your "friend code" everywhere you go?
If by friend code you mean for 3DS, i don't share it with just anyone, neither is it public display like @Crystal the Glaceon and some others here.

You act as if a friend request means the other person knows all of your personal info. It's a friend request. Not a background check. Just decline it.

I accept all my friend requests.

I met my boyfriend online 8 years ago and he started out as a random friend request and slowly became someone I knew and trusted.

I'm not concerned about the info, since i make sure my privacy setting is always updated. Still is just how could someone find me to send friend request when i do not share such things often?

I talk to people before hand, i ask if is okay to add to friend list at least showing respect and to not raise any supicion or alertness in people, doing such things without any explanation is just sometimes how people feel is a reason to think about how something isn't right.

Is nothing personal, but is just how i come to be. Years of growing, and time passing, with such various circumstances have presented me with different approach on things than many others, so i understand if it seems "overreacting" Still is how things are and it may change again in future.

I try and figure out if its anyone I know under a different name. If it isn't I just deny them
Isn't that too much work especially in online setting? Unless you're some licensed investigator of cyber world i guess. :P

I dunno how you have such level of confidence... or coruage... how you're so otimisticly positive about things, but i hope is not direspectful to say "how lucky" But non the less congratulations, i guess.

(I still have no actual constructive comment to this cause I'm still shocked)
Hope you will tell me the story sometime. :grog:

Its not that hard lol. I just look at their friends list to see if we have anyone in common, maybe google the username. Basic stuff like that that may give me an idea. I don't get them very often so its usually pretty easy to do just by seeing if they have any friends in common

As someone who interracts with shittons of people, I can tell you that sometimes random friend requests are most of the times golden and wrth it.

Seriously, interract with them, if it goes well, congratulations, you got a new friend. Otherwise, it's just a matter of "unfriend" to solve it.

I accept them but usually i don't talk to them or play with them ; They friend name are just there , using space on my friend list
Its funny since with my internet friends i barely play with them and...i don't have IRL friend on consoles ;u;

However ; I have a rule which is if they aren't a friend i talk to and they haven't connected in one month , i delete them

Well i suppose you have valid point. But just for people who may not be aware of this, perhaps there is some who... well, how do i word it to not sound bad.... "Cling to false hope" To be a bit more fleshed out, perhaps the individual hoped something good can come from it, and you know... doesn't know when to give up on things. Besides hard to believe but not all people are as optimistic, is all down to mentaility.

By the way, when i said don't give up, i mean the reciever, as they could intend to "Keep trying" that maybe it will "Work out" and some just probably don't have it in them to be rejecting to remove, ignore request or something knowing is probably not gonnaget better. I wouldn't known how to better describe this other than what i said Cling to false hope.

Either way, i understand what you mean, and i think you made a rather good point like some other comments have here. :)

Well that is probably good. Is not always easy to have control over things like this. To be honest, i seen some pretty messed up situations with this, and is all mental state based, where people can't accept some of the things, and try to just "make it work" but in all seriousness, these people i guess have their own reason for this behavior but is only speaking from expeirence and observation.

I usually don't like purging such things, i dunno what is going on over there on the other side of the monitor, but i can least give them benefit of the doubt to least show them i'm giving chance. Is not that i'm too lazy to clean a friend list... (if i had one) is just things... different things and i guess is best not started here for sake of people complaints.

PSN I tend to ignore, as I'm hardly on there.

Steam. Any vac bans, ignore. Russians likely trying to scam, ignore. Any others I'll add.
