Hey gusy,

yesterday i've bought the game Shaun White Skateboarding (for Wii) in a Game Stop store.
Today I tried to launch it but it said, that I have to update my Wii, but i wont do that, cuz I want to stay on my 4.3 firmware.

The Question is:
Is there a possibility to play "new" games like this one on an old 4.3 Formware without updating it?

Thanks!

USB Loader GX has a DVD loading button, try that as I used it to launch NTSC games on a PAL console

just do the update and use the same procedure as earlier to mod the console again (doubt it takes more then the last 2 steps (hbc should still work, remove the cioses (ios 220 and up), use ios 236 installer and reinstall the cioses the same way you did before. should still work like before... and your original ame shouldn't have any problem running.

You're being asked to update because the IOS the game requires is patched somehow. You can install Priiloader and block disc updates or just fix the bad IOS. There's really no need to patch anything to restore the Trucha bug or anything like that nowadays.

Let me ask you something before assuming things. Is your Wii softmodded?

4.3 is the latest firmware released. There were minor updates after 4.3 (Wii shop channel update) but that was back in Dec 2012. So. all games should run fine on 4.3, even the "newer" ones.

If your wii was softmodded, and some original IOS were patched, then the reason why is asking for an update is that it is trying to update those IOS (as someone said before) I prefer to patch only ios36 and leave the rest untouched to avoid these kind of problems. Or perhaps is trying to update the Shop Channel (but the effect is the same, it will erase every cIOS and will render your softmodding unusable, so you will need to softmod again).

But, if your wii wasn´t softmodded at all, then it is probably trying to update the Wii shop channel. And it shouldn´t be a problem to perform the update ´cause it is original and there´s no harm in updating it.

There´s another option. There´s a utility called GECKO that lets you run the original game from DVD skipping the update request.

Search for GECKO 1.9.3.1 .wad

It adds a channel which only purpose is to load games that come with included updates, and bypasses them.
