So as you may know, the way that the big N does pre-purchasing is that you download an unopenable version of the full game before the release date and on midnight the night of release, they send out an update that makes the game playable.

My question is would it be possible, through hacking or whatnot, to try and bypass the part of the pre-purchased version that keeps you from opening it? I know little about how this stuff works and/or how to find out how it works, so that is why I've come here to you guys.

If anybody here wants to try and find out how to make this work before the pre-purchasing for Su/Mo is available, there is currently a game on the Eshop that is Pre-Purchasable: Disney Magical World 2. Assuming that this game's pre-purchase works the same as Su/Mo's will, this game may be a good way to find out how to bypass the need for the "availability update" and play the game early

Who knows, maybe in the future everyone here will be playing Pokemon before its official release ;)

How early usually?
I'm not exactly sure, but I would have to guess they do it around 2 weeks before release. I mean, that Disney game comes out on the 14th and its preorder is available now, though Im not sure how long it was available before now.

NO and has been asked way to many times
I haven't seen it asked anywhere else, are you sure you are fully understanding what I'm asking?

Regardless of how many times it has been asked here, it has been attempted. In fact a couple of us just tried it when dq7 was up for pre-purchase, and didn't come across any easy solutions(we didn't try too hard the though =p)

Could you link me to a thread of the attempts?

Nope, don't know of any. The group I'm talking about did it in a discord chat. I can promise that you wouldn't find any useful information from reading the chat log anyway. I can just give you what we found though. The pre-purchased version of the game seems to be missing some file(s) that make it so you can launch the game. That's probably what the launch day patch is for.

exactly, when releasing a pre order game to download they either offer one of 2:
1.encripted data with a key that is released on release date (steam does this) before playing the game you require to extracted the data with that key

2.missing executable or core data.. you can explore and fidle with the files but if you want to actually play the game you will have to rebuild the missing parts...

both ways, it's a job that can take weeks months or years for something that will be released shortly after...

No, it's the placeholder for the full game ;)
now when they change that, you can demand it to get the game for free, or sue them
isn't there a law in the EU, that if a retailer puts something for a price in error, the purchased can demand to get it at that price?

you are not in the eu, and i am not sure if this law applies for people outsiode of the country...

i know for sure, there had been several cases when a product at a store had a wrong price tag or the store advertised it at a wrong price the store is forced to comply...
that's why flyers got warnings in small letters, "prices listed can suffer printing errors, blabla, valid from x to x, product appearence and form can be different, no props included"
i got a lidl flier here that says this on every single page...

Ah, yeah probably not xD. Also I think it may only apply after you purchase the item at the errored price and the company tries to charge the actual full price.

What do you mean?

I was just making a joke that if the law were true, I would take advantage of the situation and get a free Dutch copy of Sun. I just said it like that because I wasn't sure at the time whether or not it was Dutch or something else.
