Hacking Do there exist any conditions where the DSiWare exploit doesn't take 7 days?

I'd be ok with the wait if both 3DS's were mine, but one (what would be the source 3DS) is my wife's and I'm sure she'd like access to her account on her system.

Edit: I'm aware the 7 days is an issue with Nintendo's limits on System Transfers, I'm basically asking if there's a way to do it that doesn't involve transferring the same account twice.

You could probably try setting up a throwaway EmuNAND account.
It's just an idea I've not put into practice, but on your hacked 3DS you could try making an EmuNAND from your SysNAND, formatting the EmuNAND from System Settings to unlink it from your SysNAND, buying the DSiWare title on the EmuNAND and system-transferring that to the 3DS you wanna hack.
You wouldn't lose access to the NNID account on the SysNAND that way, but I'm not sure. Has anyone tried similar? Does system transfer from an EmuNAND to a stock SysNAND work?

Thanks for the idea, it sounds good but since the source system would not be mine I will wait to try a tested method.

But to be clear, what you're suggesting is put CFW on my wife's 3DS (hers is 10.7, so I can soft-mod it still), unlink both our accounts through formatting, buying the DSiWare on the dummy account using the source console, then re-linking our real accounts after the target gets CFW?

IIRC the system transfer limit is server side + they verify your console, not your NAND. Even if you format your 3DS or create another NAND it wouldn't work.

Actually not possible, it doe snot matter if you use a EmuNAND or SysNAND, the process is validated and autjorized by Nintendo Servers.

Only if you are okay with losing everything on your 3DS. If you can run homebrew on your 3DS at all you can back up some saves with JKSV but all the games and such would need to be re-installed.

I do have the HBL on my 3DS, it would be a pain but I could handle that better than basically locking us both out of proper use of our systems for a week. My internet's fine, re-downloading my purchase history isn't that bad.

In that case you can use HBL to load JKSM's Save Manager and backup any digital game saves you'd like. Since it's only running in user land and not installed as a CIA, you won't be able to back things up like Mii Plaza or Streetpass data. Your friend code will also change.

But ultimately you would use your wife's 3DS, install A9LH on it (is it an o3DS or n3DS?) and then purchase and exploit Fieldrunners. Make a backup of her 3DS using Decrypt9 and then you'd transfer her console to yours, replacing everything on your console. You'd then hack your 3DS by dumping your NAND, modifying it and writing it back and then downgrade to 9.2. Once you have A9LH all set up on your 3DS and you're back on the latest system firmware, format your system so that you can set it up with your own NNID, re-install your games and then use JKSV to import your saves.

After you're done with your own and have formatted it, then set your wife's up as new and sign into her NNID. If she wants to keep A9LH, then simply restore the backup you made. If she does not want A9LH, then restore the 9.2 backup made during Plailect's Guide and choose FORCE instead of KEEP A9LH, then re-update to the latest software.

Total process time would be a few hours (1-2 to hack hers, 2-4 to hack yours).

Thanks. Yeah, most of my FL was populated by one-time trades in Pokemon anyway, and I haven't touched Friend Safari in over a year. Thanks, next time I have 6 hours with her 3DS I'll probably get to work on it.

To answer your queries:

Mine is n3DSxl, hers is o3ds (original model), she does not desire to keep AL9H, basically she'll want hers right back to before I messed with it.

In that case this is the only way for you to do it, since a n3DS cannot system transfer to an o3DS anyway. It's a one-way transfer. Once you've set her o3DS up as a new console following the system transfer to your 3DS, sign into her NNID to re-accociate it and then restore the 9.2 backup made while installing A9LH but choose FORCE to remove A9LH, then it can be updated to the latest firmware and be completely stock.

Even better then, since being the only way also prevents the 7 day wait. Thanks, I'll bookmark this and slowly work on it, first by backing up my digital saves, then waiting til I have the time to handle all this.

Nope. Just ask your wife to wait.

That will not work, that NNID is now linked to the target console. Only way to get it back onto the wife's console is ringing up Nintendo or waiting 7 days to do a system transfer.
And he can't transfer back, since one system is a n3DS and the other is an o3DS.
So the only option is calling Nintendo. He might have to tell them the n3DS broke, or he lost it, or similar to get them to transfer the NNID back.

Well the only way to get it back if you do that is contact Nintendo as said, you can contact them trough an email making an "Incident" in Nintendo Support site or with a phone call to their support center.

So wait, if the method still required multiple transfers, then I'm just screwed without contacting nintendo anyway, aren't I?

Because either way (AFAIK) to return our accounts to their original systems requires that at least one account go from New to Old.

So it sounds like my best option is to make a dummy account
DSiWare downgrade is really only for people without the skills & equipment to do a hardmod (granted, this is 90% of people).
Meh, I meant paying vb to do it, but still this is all terribly bad luck that our systems seem practically incompatible without basically losing access to someone's account.
