Yes. I was using the .mp4 method butbwas so limited and i need to rename files etc.

And yes you need to delete your psvita savedara before copying again or will show a error msg. So before copying new stuff just delete the savedata you can do that in manage content.

And remember its only work with QCMA. Will not with CMA i think.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

I dont think size matter. I transferred 2.9Gib from uncharted.bin.

This characters limitation scary me. I didn't test it. I hope its not so limited. Because will make sad.

character limitation iirc is only to make the vita identify the files on its content manager
you can rename it on vitashell after that
tried transferring a 945mb Dragon Crown VPK (renamed DRCWN.VPK) and its successful
so no problem here

When trying to transfer a 3gb vpk, I always get PC has been disconnected. I can't ftp it either because it always just stops after a minute. Anyone else running into this problem? Thanks.

1.Install QCMA - https://codestation.github.io/qcma/
2.Setup a video folder location under settings.
3.Copy yourgame.vpk into your video folder.
4.Rename file type from .vpk to .mp4
5.Open video app on vita and transfer yourgame.mp4 from your PC to your Vita
6.Open Vitashell go to uxo:/video/xx/yourgame.mp4, press triangle, and rename yourgame.mp4 back to yourgame.vpk then install. Viola!

Uh guys, would absolutely love some help.
Just got MGS2HD which is 1.5 gig and the mp4 trick wont work on it. Gets stuck at the end and ways wait 5 seconds.

I tried the PSP Save Data method but it seems to not work, i dont know what i am doing wrong.

Basically i went to Documents/PsVita/PSaveData
and added a save file of psp (Gta Liberty city which is ULUS10041S3
And inside that i made a Vpk folder and added the game.

Now i tried refreshing the database and connected my vita.
But when i go to App and Transfer Psp/other data it says empty folder :(

Would absolutely love help with this (and for the record i have no psp games on vita)

I use the psp save method, yet after each pc to vita upload, delete the save from the vita, add a new vpk to the save on the pc, refresh qcma database and upload to the vita, rinse and repeat for other games. Done quite few this way without fail.

You just have to wait a little longer, it is probably a delayed write issue with usb devices.

How to fast install games without the need for double amount of free space.

(Replace PCSEXXXXX with the one from the game)

1. Exctact your .vpk (zip)
2. Remove everything inside your vpk except eboot.bin and sce_ folders (repack without creating new zip)
3. Move your .vpk and game content files to QCMA's Backup folder for PSP Saves
ex. PSVBACKUPFOLDER:\PSAVEDATA\<your unique id>\TRANSFER\PCSEXXXXX
4. Place ICON0.PNG and PARAM.SFO (you can use it from backup installer)
in PSVBACKUPFOLDER:\PSAVEDATA\<your unique id>\TRANSFER\
5. Refresh QCMA's Database
6. Connect your PSVITA via USB
7. Transfer your 'PSP Savegame' to your PSVITA
8. Open up VitaShell and browse to ux0:/PSPEMU/PSP/SAVEDATA/TRANSFER/PCSEXXXXX
9. Install your .vpk and activate FTP when its done
10. Move the gamefiles to ux0:/app/PCSEXXXXX via FTP
--- DONE ---
If you want to install another game, repeat the steps above and overwrite the save.
Thats how i've installed +2GB Games in less than 10 Minutes :)

And i still have no clue on how to use the PSP Save file method. Oh well, atleast the mp4 one is working :)

Wow very informative, i might and possibly will try that from the future. Such a pain to have double the space for 1.5-2 gig games in my Vita. Sadly my memory card is only 4 gig (3.8 usable), so i prolly need to invest in a bigger memory card :)

Does this also work the other way around? Transfer a vpk created with Vitamin to PC?

I copied the vpk to the video folder, renamed it to .mp4, but it is not recognized by QCMA.

You can avoid the annoying FTP by copying the larger files even in save folder and then with Shell move to right folders! (after use the small vpk to create bubble and folders)

Can Molecular Shell extract files from a zip? I am using the mp4 method along with quick install via removing big files from vpk method but after installing the downsized vpk, I am left with a 2-3gb bunch of files that I have to transfer into the game's folder now. The guides I have read state to transfer via ftp but that would probably take really long so I was hoping I could zip them up, use the mp4 method again to transfer and then revert to zip and extract the contents to the required game file.

Any ideas?

Also, does the psp saves method of transferring vpk and other files require you to have already played a psp game on the vita and thus, created a psp save file for it?

That is a question i am also asking, this is because my vita cant recognise any psp save file when i try and transfer through QCMA. Any help on this would be appreciated.

I could be wrong, but i dont think it can extract from zip files. Has to be vpk. All i know is that you can rename the files through molecular shell. That is what i am doing with my games and donganranpa. Hope that helps :)

Till then, we are stuck with vpk-mp4 only files :/

Drat it; it would be great if they could enable extraction from zip files in future updates. Yups, that's also what I have been doing haha; what I was trying out now is whether I can shorten the overall time taken for the whole process of transferring the game from pc to vita and installing, hence the attempt to downsize the vpk for quicker installation, then throwing the remaining extracted files quickly over via the mp4 method. Oh well, guess I just deal with the long installation times for now haha!

Bro, i totally understand what you mean. Its a bit annoying at times i guess. The long installs are a bit tedious and the fact you have to anticipate if it will properly install or not is a bit worrying.

Im pretty sure they will allow us to do a lot more as they update the god tier molecule shell for 3.60 firmware.

I actually tried compressing vpk into zips and then renamed them to vpk again. Used the trusty mp4 transfer and it worked with shovel knight! 110 mb to 80mb. You could try that for the timebeing. (iirc did not work with over 1 gig files) :)

Just to make sure I understood what you said, you compressed an original game vpk of Shovel Knight (without anything removed) into a zip to reduce its size, renamed it as a vpk, then renamed it as a mp4, transferred it over and renamed it back to vpk, and successfully installed it? That sounds like a niffy trick to reduce file size, thanks for sharing it!:) Most of the games I have been wanting to transfer are 2-3gb giants sadly :/
