The main thing with any developer saying a project is nearing to completion, it's absolutely relative to their perception of time and everybody perceives time in their own way, and comparitively to the release of the wiiu, I'd say it gives you a lot more leeway.

Even the pirates should still be happy with loadiine playing their games, so I don't see why people are so desperate for it, it's gonna help the homebrew side of things a lot more than anything

It just gets me in a bad mood when you have a ton of noobs pretending like IOSU will make the WiiU some kind of god. Without devs, IOSU is useless. And even if there will be devs, there's no telling what they'll create. USB access is probably coming, and writing homebrew to the NAND for fully offline homebrew probably is too. That's about anyone can say is coming.

And then you have the people pretending like the WiiU community is dead. Hint: it's not. And IOSU wouldn't make it any less "dead" anyways.

IOSU will not make homebrew any better than it already is, besides fully offline play. With what we have now, we can have any homebrew we want, as long as there are devs working on it. A while back, @brienj created a semi-demo GameBoy emulator that while it didn't have anything fancy like sound, it worked great. And it all ran through the kernel.

There are other devs working on making a "RetroU" iirc.

Temp should really just shut up about it until we hear more word from SALT. Don't speculate what it'll bring, don't ask what it'll bring, don't ask when its coming. Just sit and wait, and continue pirating games and cheating in games and modding games in peace.

I hate the amount of speculation around the IOSU exploit. IOSU won't make the community more alive. That is the devs and peoples problem to make the community less dead. Developer more stuff for it. IOSU won't give us a developer kit on Wii U. It's really getting annoying. I think Robins post did best explaining it though

There is nothing wrong with assuming the WiiU community will see an increase in devs. It just may. You don't know that. If you don't like it, leave. It's THAT simple. It's the same played out shit that happened with the 3DS just earlier this year. Why is it a problem that the community holds active conversations with what might be? Is being optimistic an issue now?

Keep it in one thread and everyone is happy! This happens every other month everytime some posts a snippet of development with the word IOSU in it. It makes it hard for new people seeking information when all they see is IOSU blah blah blah. That in turn leads them to make an additional new thread asking for clarification and it goes on and on until people get tired and a new snippet comes out.

I kinda wish when people hear things on that topic that they would just share in an existing thread. That way we could have a central thread on all IOSU developments and keep the front page clean.

If "Uptate to 5.5.1 while you can" mean something to 5.2.0 users is "update to 5.5.1"
Same for 5.3.2 users, If you are asking if there iis a benefit in staying there or updating then there is a benefit in updating.

@GokuJunior, I would wait for other devs in the know to chime in. If ISOU gets released for 5.5.1 most users would update for it. A wild ISOU has not appeared in the wild yet, only tons of speculation.

What if a update is released and he cannot update to 5.5.1 but something higher? Who knows, maybe that can happen. Just saying, unless someone already owns a game with 5.5.1 update, i know that many people may be scalping to stock that game in their house try sell it for more than is worth.

If I'm not wrong, if IOSU works in the 5.5.1 firmware it should work in the 5.5.0 firmware too, so a disc with that firmware should work too (I mean because OSv10 is the same between 5.5.0 and 5.5.1, if I not bad remember 5.5.1 only tries to "fix" a bug in WebKit)
Anyway, Smealum IOSU tools works in 5.5.x as bare minimum, so I think it is safe to update...

Always a possibility Nintendo could drop an update, even if they did as long as the method of how ISOU works is not divulged the devs would probably just update the release for the new firmware. It's not like we are any closer to a release for 5.5.1 as we are if Nintendo updates the firmware.

Well since i don't know anything about this ISOU or what it does, i won't try to tell people what to do, their decision to make. If the exploit was designed for 5.5.1 i just think it is most compatible. I wasn't saying it can't be done on other firmware, cause if we learn anything, people make stuff happen that i never thought of being possible (mostly cause how long it takes i usually feel people would lose reason to keep going) But is been over a year with 5.5.1 and how likely it is for a update with only about 2 or 3 games left for the console to be release, not sure updates may occur. If one does, i do hope it can be easily fixed. Chances are higher since there is no release of exploit for nintendo to know how to fix, other than the homebrew one.

To be honest, i was hoping smash bros would been the way to exploit the system again like the wii did, since it is one of the few games to use SD cards.

@Sonic Angel Knight, I agree with you in that is the persons decision to make. With all the info out there (and the vague call for everyone to update to 5.5.1) there needs to be some clarification to make people feel comfortable updating. I understand 5.5.1 works with all current homebrew apps. It is kinda like when 9.2 became the new magic firmware for 3DS in that people were wary for awhile to update from 4.0-4.5 to 9.2. Just have to see how it all plays out.
