Hello, everyone. A long while ago, I recieved my first o3DS. I dropped it a lot, being the younger person that I was. I eventually got a new o3DS, and then a n3DS XL. Recently, I got my o3DS to boot up. However, it has some issues:
It has no charging port. (Thus, the battery needs to be replaced every so often.)
It has no L/R buttons.
It's battery is taped in.
The system makes a popping noise and shuts down when the screen is rotated past 90°.
One of my relatives wanted me to hack their 11.0.0 o3DS. I thought, that's fine, let me just use my n3DS for DSiWareHaxx oh wait. n3DS can't transfer to o3DS. So I was going to use another relative's 3DS that I also hacked, except they lost it (they're super "generous"). As a last resort, I have my semi-broken o3DS. It's running 8.1.0-18U. I was wondering, is there any way to use this to hack my relative's 3DS, and maybe even fix it? Thank you to anyone who read this far, I sure do type a lot.

I think so, just make sure the wifi is working. The only thing im concerned is when you're about to do the system transfer and it shutsdown.

You'd have to hack it if it isn't hacked.
Also, I'm almost certain that the 3DS is repairable with some basic soldering skills. Just replace the upper screen ribbon cable as it sounds like it's torn, and solder n a new charging port. And replace the back plate obviously, I think Nintendo sells replacements for those. You can also get replacement L/R button assemblies, which are connected by ribbon cables I believe, so you don't even need to solder. If the plastic pieces are missing you should be able to find replacements for those as well but you might need to buy a full button set. All in all the hardest part is opening up the 3DS without breaking anything. Those ribbon cables are really flimsy.

Me too - it happened several times while transfering to my second 3DS that I no longer own, although I think it was mostly because of an annoying friend who kept pushing back the screen.

Is your broken 3DS already running CFW? If yes then yes. Otherwise you'd have to hack your broken 3DS first.

If only I had a CFW, this would all be so much simpler...

You'd have to hack it if it isn't hacked.

Well, you see, I had to take out some pieces inside the 3DS where the screws would go in for the backplate to actually make it boot, so getting a new backplate wouldn't be that useful, unless I could somehow put them back in after getting a new display. I also have the L/R ribbons, it's just that having them in the 3DS makes it do the popping thing. It's really strange.

Hacking it will probably be possible. I don't believe your shoulder buttons are ever necessary, the only things that they might be used for (I don't remember) are Luma payloads (you can always just use a different button), and I think the default Menuhax trigger might be L? But you can change that as well.

The only real issue would be that you really, really don't want your battery dying while flashing to your NAND. I would make sure to replace the battery immediately before doing that step, just in case.

I suppose I could use my relative's 3DS to charge my battery (the relative that I'm hacking the 3DS for). I just hope that the popping thing doesn't happen, I guess I'll replace my display?

The popping thing is something to do with a loose ribbon cable AFAIK, you can open up your 3ds and fix it.

EDIT: This is relevant
