I will fill out the thing in the first post if anyone thinks it would be relevant to do so, because I would really love to see this ( as if my icon doesn't give me away, haha ) -- but there's a Haikyuu!! game out in Japan. It's come out fairly recently ( last month, I think? ), so I don't want to be pushy since the OP suggests only offering up games once they've been out for at least a year.

So, I guess this post is something more like ... would it be okay to post a request for it even though it came out last month? I mostly want to see if there's any interest at all whatsoever in it, and/or make sure it's not out of line to ask for it, considering the release date ( which I believe was 03 / 03 of this year ).

Game Name: Haikyuu!! Cross Team Match!
Developer/Publisher: Bandai Namco
Release: 03 / 03 / 16
Genre: Simulation

Does it have lots of text?
Probably a bit.

Why I don't think this will come out in the West?
The series the game has been created for has not been licensed here. With no promise of this becoming a thing in the near future either, I'm not holding onto any hopes that the game will be ported, either.

What is it about?
Volleyball. Nerds playing volleyball. That's about it.

Popularity in Japan:
Not entirely sure. I can't speak a lick of it, so I don't know where to even begin to search for peoples' thoughts on the game. The Haikyuu!! fandom is pretty busy, especially with a new season promised and the manga still going strong, though.

Trailer | Gameplay ← Long video

Why I think it needs to be translated?
I suppose it doesn't need to be, but it would be really frickdang awesome if it was. The series is oddly exciting for a sports anime / manga, and I would be super excited to be able to understand just what the heck I'm reading. It adds to the characters, they kind of break away from canon in an interesting way ... I don't know, I just think the game is pretty cool, and would be even cooler if I knew more of what was going on and why it was happening.

What I can do to help:
I can provide a legit .cia file, and I'm willing to try and learn anything else that could be helpful, translations aside. I'm not much for rom hacking or anything, but I would damn well give it a shot.

I request someone to translate the two pre-order DLCs for the just-released Ace Attorney 6. Proof of concept for translation is showcased in the gif below.

Game Name: Gyakuten Saiban 6 - PRE-ORDER DLC
Developer/Publisher: Capcom
Release: Today in Japan
Genre: Mystery

Does it have lots of text?
Relatively. It's a visual novel but I'm only asking for the translation of two pre-order DLCs which might not be that long.
Why I don't think this will come out in the West?
It will, but maybe the pre-order DLCs won't.
What is it about?
One DLC is about Phoenix and his assistant going up against his longtime friend and rival Edgeworth in a foreign courtroom. The other DLC is about Apollo facing his rival Klavier in Japan's court.
Popularity in Japan:
Top 10 most popular of all time sort of game
Videos:
Glh31xz.gif

Why I think it needs to be translated?
I'm not requesting anyone to translate the whole game, as an official localization is on its way for this September, but the game just released in Japan and I'm getting it even though I can't speak it.
What I can do to help:
I can eventually PM a link to the .cia and give pointers as to how people have managed to translate games from the same engine in the past. Look up the german translation of Dual Destinies or the popular fan-translation project for Dai Gyakuten Saiban. You will need to unpack the game's files and use a .GMD editor, of which one has already been made for these games specifically and it's semi-user friendly. All I need is someone who speaks japanese and wants to take this on.

Does it have lots of text?
A reviewer has noted that the game has 30-40 hours worth of content, but I suspect much of it pertains to the dungeon crawling aspect. Considering it's been touted as an old fashioned RPG, however, I can only assume that the story is heavy with text as well. And from the playthrough videos I included below, it definitely seems that way.
Why I don't think this will come out in the West?
When XSEED Games was asked over two years ago if there was a possibility of releasing it in the West, their response was, "Probably not, but weirder things have happened (just don't ask for an example because that is one weird game)." The idea hasn't been approached since.
What is it about?
Honestly, I'm unable to tell from what I've played, since I can't understand Japanese and the opening cinematic only features the cast of characters, their magical girl transformations and images of the protagonist kissing a few of them. I did read that the player is meant to save the world through the kissing functionality by absorbing energy from enemies. If it seems like I'm not doing much research on plot, I'm sorry, but I'd like to play this game without being exposed to too many spoilers if it does end up being translated.
Popularity in Japan:
The game only sold 11,376 units during its release week, but has since received favourable reviews, four Famitsu reviewers giving it 8, 8, 7 and 7, equalling a score of 30/40.

Why I think it needs to be translated?
As stated before, the premise is unique due to the fact that Ryoma must kiss both his enemies to weaken them and his party members to boost their stats. Not only that, but the protagonist is male and is able to empower both genders through lip contact, and the ending is determined by whom Ryoma has kissed the most throughout the game. From what I've read, that means either gender, though the opening cinematic and all of the game's marketing makes deciphering the validity of that impossible without playing through the game since they've only shown heterosexual kisses.
What I can do to help:
  • Proofread translation for errors
  • Playtest builds as progression commences
Other than that, I'm not well-versed enough to edit graphics and such.

I know nothing about fan translating but the game seems to have a majority of the text in .nut files that required no effort on my part to edit.

Got to imagine it won't be that easy for the whole game but thought it was a start for any who might be interested, I don't know any Japanese just ran the above through Google Translate :P

There are a few .png files but most of the textures seem to use .rtex which I've no clue how to modify.

Was just toying around... maybe someone with actual knowledge can take a look :P

Nice! Question though, are you editing the text in a text editor or a Hex editor?
If it's just a text editor then awesome!
(Though I think he's says "A sword? Why do I have a sword?!" not "my sword" :P)

Has anyone at least tried "opening" TIME TRAVELERS and looking into it's files?
The game is a pretty fun masterpiece that should've reached the western shores, if only through eShop-only means.
Anyone?
I'll be more than willing to help with proofreading and the such if anyone decides to go through with the project

@TomodachiTymek For sure I did before I requested the game. The text isn't just written plain in some files. Beside some clearly written dates or names, the rest sems to have to be converted or something. I will upload the decrypted game later that day.

Game Name: Dragon Quest Monsters 2: Iru to Ruka no Fushigina Fushigina Kagi
Developer/Publisher: Square Enix
Release: 2014
Genre: turn based monster collecting rpg.

Does it have lots of text?
A generous amount, but not an excessive amount.
Why I don't think this will come out in the West?
Square enix tends to neglect the DQ series for the west. Some of the series has recently been announced and are coming, but the ones being released are only a tiny number of the whole of the series that remains neglected here, and the monsters portion of the series has been neglected since the nds era, and i doubt they would make an exception for this one.
What is it about?
From the info i have been able to gather, it is a nearly the same story as dragon quest monster 2 for gbc. the gameplay consists of traveling to worlds through keys to collect, breed and train monsters, delve into dungeons, fight other monster trainers, you know, the standard fare for this genre.
Popularity in Japan:
Just as popular as other DQ games are in japan, in other words, incredibly popular.

Why I think it needs to be translated?
Personally, because the original was my childhood, and i REALLY want to play it, but I also believe that many DQ fans here would appreciate the translation, as it is a great game.
What I can do to help:
I can proofread scripts, and playtest translations in game. sadly, i cannot speak japanese, because if i could, i would help with that as well.

Game Name: Time Travelers
Developer/Publisher: Level-5
Release: 12.07.2012
Genre: Cinematic Adventure

Does it have lots of text?
Because it's a Cinematic Adventure and has a great story, it has a lot of text.

Why I don't think this will come out in the West?
Level-5 itself said, it wouldn't come out to the west. Also it's nearly 4 years old, so...

What is it about?
Someday a mysterious hole, called "Lost Hole", appeared in Tokyo and caused an explosion. Therefore many lives were taken. More than a decade later the same thing seems to occure and maybe the fate of whole humanity and world is on the line. Beside that I couldn't talk too much about the story because I don't know anymore details.

Popularity in Japan:
Hmm...
It was rated very good:
Famitsu gave the game a score of 36 out of 40, including a score of 9 out of 10 from each of the four reviewers. [Like wikipedia said]
But because it's a cinematic adventure, maybe it isn't such high rated as other more popular titles.

Why I think it needs to be translated?
I think it is a beautiful cinematic adventure about time travel. Such things are very interesting to me and maybe a lot others.
Take the example of a rather unknown game called Time Hollow for NDS. It was localized and was brilliant. Maybe this game is the same beside the localization.

What I can do to help:
The video above show a complete playlist of the game nearly completely translated. There are passages that are maybe not translated, but all in all it seems finished.
The only thing this doesn't got a patch is, because the translator doesn't have the needed knowhow. Now I'm requesting some programmers and graphic guys to achieve this patch.
Sadly I'm not able to help in any of these points.

I hope you want to start a patch for this games.

Thx in advance.

P.S: I will communicate with the translator if any things are questionable.

I might pick this one up. I will try to make a proof of concept patch and if it all works i will try to recruit some people to help with translating.

Edit: got text extraction working just fine. next step would be the injection which could be a PITA if i need to recompress to CRILAYLA <.<

*deep breath* T-Thank you very much for taking a look at my request. I will try to fill it out to the best of my ability but if I miss something or do something wrong I'm very sorry and I will try to fix it. A-Anyway on with my request.

Game Name: FabStyle / Fab Style / ファブスタイル
Developer/Publisher: Ruby Party / Koei
Release: November 24th, 2011
Genre: Fashion & Romance Simulation

00fabtop_zpspskqxwti.jpg

Does it have lots of text?
I.. I'm honestly not sure. I guess it would have the same amount as Style Savvy (localized name of a 3DS fashion game) but I honestly can't say. I can link the website which gives info about the game and someone with more knowledge may have a more better estimate then I. The official website is here: http://www.gamecity.ne.jp/fabstyle/. I have looked at the website numerous times, trying to figure out how difficult it may be but I cannot be a judge on that. I'm not even sure how many images would need to be edited as well but I can only guesstimate that it will be most likely clothes types/brand/locations. On the screenshots I listed below you can see that some (not sure if all) are in English and on the last section there is mini-games that have some Japanese on it but there is some I noticed English already for instance I saw 'Free Time'.

Why I don't think this will come out in the West?
As it has been well over 5 years and Koei seems to be doing mostly Vita games I highly doubt it being localized. Despite it may even be a competitor for 'Style Savvy 2/Girls Mode 3' I don't think it will cut it. Another reason I will explain below in the Popularity in Japan section.

What is it about?
While there is a small wiki page dedicated to it here: http://koei.wikia.com/wiki/FabStyle and explains a lot more then I can, but for the integrity of this post and to try to explain by just looking at the pictures on the official website what it's about. Well, um, first off as indicated by the genre it's a fashion simulation, ala, Style Savvy, Imagine: Fashion Life and Designer, Girls Photo Shoot, etc etc. You run a clothing store which also allows you do to make up and have fashion contests which you can then show your trophy in the losers face! S-Sorry, I do have a bit of a competitive side.

What makes FabStyle different from the others mentioned is that there is an actual romance simulation included in the game. There is multiple bachelors you can romance and from what I can see they take you out on dates and even go shopping with you and pick out clothes for you! M-Maybe their bisexual since they can do that but hey! it's fun and makes me and possibly others giddy! ^_^

Popularity in Japan:
I thought that may have been the case it was not localized in the first place but then I found this website: http://koei.wikia.com/wiki/FabStyle. At first I had my hopes up when I first read this passage I will quote to you but after all this time I... I'm hoping someone will make an English patch for it. Ah, the quote says "Former Nintendo president Satoru Iwata expressed interest in bringing the title overseas for the female audience. Erikawa said she would consider the proposal if it sold a million copies in Japan. Although it has sold the promised number -based on the total sum of sales for the DS and 3DS copies, there have been no announcements of its localization overseas." So it did quite well in Japan which surprised me that it never got localized. I still remember looking at the Imagine series and hissing at them that something like that was actually made but FabStyle could not be localized. I suppose it has/had something to do with the voice actors but I have no idea. Back on topic, it did very well and now that I think about it, I wonder if they would make a sequel for Vita. Well a girl can dream. ^_^;

Videos:
(Oh God, the feels and memories are coming back TT_TT)
(DS, repeat, DS, version of gameplay. The game came out for 3DS as well and that is the requested version. *goes back to crying in corner*)

(Assuming gameplay from before release in November to show the game features.)

Why I think it needs to be translated?
Well as with just those 3 video's I listed you can see that there are some people like myself still wanting the game to be localized. It's a relaxing downtime game like the Story of Season series plus with the same bonus of having romance in both.
Another huge bonus is that, in my opinion, the characters look more real. Real, as I mean in not anime exaggerated and the men look like modern Musou hotties which is a definite plus in my book! That is of course because it is made with the publisher Koei and I could instantly see some of the hairstyle from Dynasty/Samurai Warriors in there.
As you can see, I play those types of games to as well as a very, very many variety of them. To me, there is no 'this is a girl/guy' game. If you like the game good for you, if you don't, well don't make fun of it nor the people who do. I know life doesn't work that way but anyway, this game has beautiful graphics, looks to be amazingly fun and relaxing and has the possibility to make you squeel if you so shall feel like it. I know I shall defiantly be one of those people.

What I can do to help:
Well, truth be told, I have no idea how to translate or code in anyway shape or form. One thing I am good at is proofreading. I actually caught a mistake on the webtoon site Spottoon and told them about it and they gave me some coupons for codes to access pay for comics.
I still notice a LOT of mistakes but truth be told I let it slide because I can still understand it in a sense but if I was part of the 'team' I wouldn't let them even post it before I could point them out. ^_^;
A-Aside from that I'm not really sure, I... um, could be the cheerleader squad? I guess if there is something that is within my boundaries that can be done I will do it!

My little addition:
I know this isn't in the form b-but there's so much that I could go on and on about. Websites that I just sit and stare and drool over the pictures while trying to figure out what's going on in them that I would like to share a few of those that may even possibly explain more then I could.
This was the first announcement link about the game and some details on it.
More finite details, including makeup and contact lenses and information I'm assuming on the romance aspect.
And finally, the Amazon.jp website which has pictures and a video on the game.

Conclusion:
Thank you very much for taking the time to read my post, look at the images, videos and websites. I just hope and pray that it may inspire someone to make a patch for this lovely game. Either way, thank you again for humoring this girl and reading all of this. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, truely.

Does it have lots of text?
More than likely since it has a bunch of mini games, main menu and storyline.
Why I don't think this will come out in the West?
It will eventually but following the release trend with the games here in the US it won't get released until either 2017 or 2018 since there are still four or five games that need to be released here after two in the series of games.
What is it about?
A boy who befriends a bunch of ghosts called yokai with the help of a ghost butler and magical watch.
Popularity in Japan:
There have been about six games from the game series released in Japan so far so I believe it's pretty popular.

I can provide a .cia if need be
I can proof read whatever gets translated and I can test out versions that get made before a public release.

Why I think it needs to be translated?
It is already translated but it would be a blast to read it on the go on 3DS anywhere, anytime. So the only thing to do is to implement the the translation in to the 3DS version of the game.
What I can do to help:
Not much  maybe provide the English patch.

I too would like to see the translation on 3DS, but I don't feel it would be right to do that this soon after the game's release in English. It would easily negatively impact sales for people to release their translation of the game for free

It'd be one thing to do this for Higanbana or WEE, but Fata Morgana's translation only just came out a few weeks ago.

I actually looked in to Higanbana on 3DS, but unfortunately it uses a fixed width font with only 21 characters per line, and a maximum of 7 lines per screen. It would take a lot of work for someone to port the Higanbana translation over.

Here's hoping!
