Hey all.

I have checked for a thread about this, but couldn't find much useful information.

WIll the IOSU mean we get a full custom firmware? Or is it just the same as using the kernel exploit? (What i mean by that is using the browser or some other app and having to run the exploit every boot)

The IOSU exploit will provide full control over the console. It is much-much better than a Kernel exploit.
EDIT: So, yes, we will get CFW.

So on release i take it we will have something similar to the kernel exploit just with more system access. Then after some time it could lead to a custom firmware in the future

He is wrong. We still have to load the browser and then the exploit, unless we find an exploit in the bootrom\KernelARM loader\Homemenu
I didn't answer the question about the browser, though. :P

But if IOSU handles the security then won't that be pretty easy anyway?
No.
Look at the 3DS, we had to go to a specific setting in the settings until we found menuhax.
Sure, IOSU handels the secerity, but not all of it. The bootrom handles some. And so we can't exploit at boot, and so we can't exploit slightly after boot, etc...

Technically the IOSU isn't going to magically "give" you anything. It provides a starting point for someone to develop a cfw but I wouldn't expect the heavens to open when an exploit is found. Still much to do after.

Remember smea? He made that teaser PoC video on his implementation of an autoboot CFW for wiiu. Maybe SALT has something similar up their sleeves.

I'm sure there's still a security check when running, so it may need to be re-activated upon reboot. Whether that re-activation will be automated, we'll find out.
Oh yeah I forgot. :/

It won't be automated, thus we need a boot exploit to disable checks.[emoji14]

Here's a question I have, if and when IOSU gets released does it mean Loadiine will need updating to work with it? Will there be a down period after IOSU is what I'm asking?
