Hey guys,
I just softmodded my Wii U. And now I want to buy a SDHC card, do you recommend any? Else I would get the 128GB Samsung one.

My question is: is there a possibility to shrink the .wud's? Because mine, they all are 24GB which means, on it, there will be only a small amount of games I can have on it.

Thanks in advance. Kind Regards,
TehEbil

That's for making a ud file. OP wanted to know how to extract a wud, not compress to make one.
Read my post again.
The asked for SHRINKING WUD files (aka compression) thats whats this does.
But this compression won't help him when he wants to use the game with loadiine. In order to use it with loadiine, he needs to extract it, thats was VGMToolBox does

So think about that. His wud is too big and he wants to "shrink" it. It's clear he needs to extract. Not actually "shrink" a wud. Cemu wasn't even mentioned and loadiine was so he's a noob with a big wud file. Not hard to know that the OP isn't talking about making a smaller wud fIle for Cemu.

scenario: somebody types in "shrinking WUD files" into the search function an gets this thread. Why shouldn't he get a solution for the given problem, even when the OP's intention was a different?
The information about shrinking the WUD wasn't only for the OP, it was for everyone who opens this thread because he wants to know hot to shrink WUD files (Thats whats the thread title). And now the OP even learned more than simple telling him "extract this shit".

Edit: And when loadiine supports WUD/WUX files in the future, this thread will be still useful.

Are you suggesting that everytime a new thread is created where the OP asks a question in the wrong way that we should always embellish a complicated response that has nothing to do with the original question just because someone else out there may want to know as some undetermined point in the future? That's a complete fallacy and makes no sense. These forums would be an even bigger mess if we did that everytime and nobody would get the answers they are looking for.

Answer the original question and move on. No need to confuse the OP when he/she simply wanted to know how extract a wud (even if they worded the title wrong)

That's like a noob creating a thread with questions about USB and then you go into a diatribe about the capability of CEMU with USB because somebody out there at some point may find that thread. Makes no sense

You dont get it. The title says "Shrinking of .wud files?" I wrote a solution for shrinking wud files. Whats wrong about it? That WAS the original question.

He didn't ask in a wrong way, he asked the wrong question. I gave him the answer to the question he asked, and the answer to the question he should've asked.

I do.
because I feel like it's a good idea to explain why the question is wrong, give the proper answer (what he was really looking for) and think about people finding this thread on google search looking for the initial answer.

example : people asking for DIOS MIOS, I (usually) don't tell them to use nintendont without helping with DM question the user asked.

What Maschell did is very good : he both answered the question and explained what he has to do instead. 2-in-1, current and future users.

I like what you do here Cyan but I have to disagree. The front page is always littered with new threads asking basic questions and the most common reason new posters give is that the threads are all over the place and too hard to follow.

If you're that worried about google searches then as a mod just change the title to match the correct question asked. There is already an entire thread dedicated to the WUD compression tool. Do you really want users sifting through multiple unrelated threads to find info on "shrinking a wud" just because the OP worded the title wrong.

The mods could do a lot more to keep the threads clean, on topic and easy to follow. Allowing people to mislead new users with extra info that doesn't relate to the original question because of typo is senseless.

I also want to give my oppinion. The answer of Maschell was a very good one. Another newbie could ask the same question, because, with the wii and nds roms, it was possible to shrink the files before one uses it. I knew about that tool before but I read that it would only be for Cemu, not for loadiine, so I asked here on how to shrink it. I didn't know, and that's my fault, that you have to extract them (because I downloaded from a page which said they'd be ready to use, but in fact, only some were already extracted), so the first two answers were very helpful for me to understand all the things I needed to know. Thank you guys btw.
