Ask one of your friends to bring their charger, at least you'll be able to play with them while they're around.

I took one of my USB 3ds charging cables and ran my multimeter across it. I found that pin 1 on the 3ds end connects to pin 4 of the USB connector and pin 2 on the 3ds end connects to pin 1 of the USB connector. I've attached a picture to show how I was holding the connectors while I was checking them.

Hmmm cool, but I dont have a 3ds connector and placing wires exactly in right place in such small area and holding them is quite risky and hard so I chose the cardle path cause its more then few milimeters apart in it... thanks anyways
Do u have charging cardle/dock/whateversthename? If so please try with the multimeter what is each connection...

Yes, since DS, 3DS, n3DS chargers are compatible all throughout just different placements. You have been warned though.

Just be sure not to short it out. It will definitely kill your 3DS. Again, just borrow from one of your friends. :P
I know they are all compatible. Btw ds dont have those metal pieces for cardle. I ask if they switched between them from the o3ds to n3ds...

you don't have somene that you could get a charger borrowed ?you need to have a lot of care about voltage and stuff

the n3DS charge is 5v 1.0A , the usb output on pc are 5v too (if 1.0 or 2.0 ) , but idk about amperage...

There was a guy that charged his DSlite with a phone charger that plug on wall > usb> mini usb
he just plugged it on the DS and worked lol but now his DS don't work anymore, so take care , try to use less voltage, not more

The amperage is pretty much the same also. The question is which cable where?

Cut the connector off of your broken charger. I do have a dock, but honestly the picture and info I posted gives you all the information you'll need to wire the dock to a USB cable as well.

I asked about the metal connections that look easier to make charger for

anyways, I made a charger similar to the one on the reddit thread for my friend and took his charger... it was ok by him...
BTW he has o3ds xl if that matters....

I think it don't matter, I use an o3DS "lite" charger to charme my new3DS
I think you need a multmeter to test witch is positive or wich is negative but I think you can follow the one of the o3DS dock?

BUt what you did worked?

If you still have the end of the charger that goes into the 3DS you could always slice the cable and a USB cable and connect the internal wires together (use a multi-meter for checking polarity)

USB voltage by itself is perfectly acceptable to use for charging the 3DS... there are plenty of USB > 3DS charging cables available that are nothing more than 3DS and USB connectors on a cable... (I have one, works great)

There are also some videos of people apparently taking a mini usb (not micro) cable and plugging it into the 3DS upside-down... (I haven't tried this myself...)

I only tested on o3ds xl in the end and it worked...
Upside down 3ds- red in left and black on the right

Just buy a USB to 3DS cable in your favourite Chinese e-commerce site and ship it to your home, it will be cheap as hell and it will reach your home in one or two days, perhaps.
