@Mianne use Gateway at little as possible. It breaks your system very easily. The only reason to keep it would be to keep the blue cart (the DS version of it) which even custom firmware can't accomplish.

You probably don't need FBI anymore or Decrypt9. Just reinstall decrypt9 if you ever have to restore a NAND or restore FBI (which can be easily done)

Try to see if you can install Retroarch Emulators (these include NES, SNES, GBA, GBC, GB, Genesis) (I recommend Gamebatte, QuickNES, PocketSNES, GenesisGX (think that's what it's called)

FreeShop is amazing if you ever find it. An app called Homebr3w is good too. JKSM helps backup your saves. I recommend Turtle Invaders, Eucliod, Hax0r, Whack Mania, and Rokoban as some neat little homemade games

Be careful with any SafeA9LHInstaller guides (seriously, if you don't use the latest installer and the latest "a9lh" update folder, you will brick.

BootNTR is pretty cool too, it's a cheating app. But, dont let your son use the "Enable Debugger" or "Real Time Save" on it. Also, make sure you're careful installing cheats for this as some cheats can break the game. This app is totally optional and should not be messed with too much

You should look into the emulators/virtual console, freeshop, and many more goodies like custom themes (backgrounds).

Be wary, it's bad to just simply follow the guides here, so be sure to read the faqs and if your question is not answered, it's alright to ask.

Oh, and don't ask for free games here, that's not okay, and as long as you follow that you're good.

Really, what about all the owners of legit carts that were bricked. If the cart is not inserted all tgecway it can fail the check and brick the console...

There were literally two, and that was 3 years ago, at the time of launcher 2.1b. AND Gateway offered to replace their consoles. Back then, Gateway bricked any modifications made to their launcher.dat to combat clones, which resulted in a couple of good eggs getting bricked. Since the reintroduction of brick code in December, (3.4.1) there hasn't been a single genuine Gateway brick, and there never will be one, because their cart detection has improved this time around.

No 300 game limit, drag and drop .3DS, better cheat system, etc. Even if you compare it to freeshop,
3DS files are still objectively better.

If the OP has a Gateway there is literally no reason to stop using it. CFW and Gateway is the best combo there is, anyways.

Hey hey everyone I just wanted to inform everyone that I successfully did this al9h thing even though it took ...a long time especially the 2.1.0 downgrade felt like hours.
But now I got everything to work :-)

Time to let my son play with his new toy (and when he sleeps it's Mario time for me )

OP you may use Gateway if you please, but unless you have a blue card which I do not think you have, I and most people recommend staying away from it to be more safe and to save time and use better alternatives!!

There are several who have reached the 300 game limit, you really can't use this as an excuse. Even with Gateshark2NTR, there are still extra hoops to jump through for cheats, and don't even get me started on creating them. We get it, the majority of the community likes to hate on Gateway, and you're riding bandwagon. Doesn't make it any less useful than it is.

I stand by what I said, there's no reason to stop using a Gateway if you already have one. Even if you have CFW. Now, if OP didn't own a Gateway cart and was trying to buy one, that's when it's reasonable to advise against it.

Honestly, even if this were still a problem, (I haven't seen a report for a Gateway online ban in awhile, and the ones I did see lasted 2 weeks) it's not even that hard to get a private header. Dump your game, extract header, permanent private header. But even if that's still too much, Gateway installs .CIAs too, it's always had that ability.

Just because you don't see the upside to having both does not mean there is no reason. Seems to be pretty narrow minded. It's like you think just because you can't benefit, there is no benefit at all. Talk about fanboyism. A9LH can do everything gateway can plus more, so no, there's really no reason to.
