Hi all, anyone know a way to remove the NNID. A friend has a system thats already hacked and everything, but when we tried to replace the NNID with his own, it just throws an error. Any software or anything that can help?

It's pretty simple. Just go to system settings, then tap the top where it says nintendo network ID settings. After that, go to the last page and tap other. There is an option to delete the NNID.

This is from Nintendo's website.

"Nintendo 3DS family systems can only support one Nintendo Network ID at a time. However, you can format the system to deactivate the current NNID and create a new one. (The existing account and purchases will not be deleted, and can still be re-linked to the same system in the future.)"

According to that, you should be able to format both 3DS systems and the NNID's will be unlinked from them (not gone, just not connected to those 3DS anymore). After that, linking the one you want to use should be simple as long as you remember your NNID name and password. If that doesn't work, then a system transfer is probably the only way.

this deletes the NNID, all of its purchases, miiverse posts, everything. this is probably not what you want.

was this ID used on another 3DS? you need to do a system transfer, or call Nintendo.

Well he said it already had an NNID he wanted to replace with his own. Couldn't he just use his own after deleting it?

Edit: After selecting delete NNID it actually has a lot of options, such as "linking a different ID" or "use this ID on another 3DS". So, if the friend still has the 3DS with the NNID he wants to use, on that 3DS go choose "I want to use this NNID on another 3DS" after deleting the one on the hacked 3DS.

I haven't done this personally, but just a bit of searching and I believe I found the answer. It's in my post above.

That doesn't works, when you tap that option it tells you to do a System Transfer, I'm on the same situation but tomorrow I'll can do the transfer back, I'm going o try restoring and old Backup that has the NNID linked to see if that works.

You need to do a system format with you 3DS option and that NNID should NOT be linked to any other device.
