does a9lh allow games from other regions to be installed? Can I update these games suing the eshop?
Yes luma3ds cfw allows the install of games from other regions, and if to update, you have to use software like freeshop or install the updated cias/update cias manually

I finished part 4 of Plailect's guide and have successfully downgraded to 2.1. However, I can no longer boot with my sd card inserted. I know the troubleshooting section instructs one to remove the sd card, boot, then reinsert the sd card. Is it normal that this is the case every time I try to bot now? Will this be fixed at some point during part 5 (arm9lh)? Thanks for your time.

It is normal that in 2.1 you must remove your SD card before booting for it to boot correctly .
Don't worry, just put it back as soon as it boots and continue with the process.
After installing a9lh and flashing emunand to sysnand as the guide states everything will be okay, don't worry ;)

Now I have a question. I want to play just DS games on my systems (either my 2DS or n3DSXL, both with A9LH). I don't care about GBA or SNES games as I can find those elsewhere. What flashcard is recommended to play just DS games and what do I need to do to set it up? Are there any patches I need to install?
So the DStwo doesn't appear to work on the latest firmware... Either get a DS/i or an emulator for PC or buy the games. That said it might be possible to use it if you downgrade the 3ds firmware (I just don't know if or how you can and if it will work). Anyway, unless someone finds a way to play DS games using a9lh or something I'm not going to bother. I still want to know what the options in Decrypt9 for dumping carts mean and which I should choose and for what situation.
The DSTwo definitely DOES work on the latest firmware, that's why it's always recommended over any random R4 clone.

When doing the prep work in section 1 of part 5 of Plailect's guide, one is instructed to copy the arm9.bin and arm11.bin (from safea9lhinstaller) to the root of the sd. However, in part 4, there was a step in which one needed to copy those files to the root of the sd from otphelper. Do I simply replace the files?

Hi everyone, i'd like to install some GBA games but iirc i have to install them to both Sys and Emu nand. Emu nand is obviously no problem but... how can i install it on Sysnand?

I have 9.2 Sys (obv), 11 Emunand (Luma3DS)

How do I make a backup of my O3DS on arm9luma and my N3DS 11.0 that im going to hack? The new downgrade said I need to back up both but I don't know how to.

You can make a sysnand back of the A9lh o3ds with Hourglass9 and copy the files in the two 3dses SD cards in two folders, one for the o3ds, the other for the N3ds...

For the N3DS that is not hack I just copy the files of the sd card and move it to a folder? And for the O3DS on arm9luma I just Hourglass9?

for the o3ds you hourglass9 and copy the files
For the n3ds you can't hourglass, so you copy the files and use homebrew save managers to back up your digital game saves (if you have them)

Hi guys, I got the a9lh luma 3ds, do i have to take extra notes if i wanted to play vc games, gb games, nds games, like installing special patches and taking extra steps?
what is the difference between freeshop and ciangel? any similar apps like them that is quite 'essential', 'must-get' after installing a9lh luma3ds?
Special thanks to @Protatoxxxeater for the very useful straight to the point answers:D

Hi. I intend to upgrade my new 2ds to firmware 9-9.5 for the purpose of pokedit.

I am planning to buy Codename: STEAM so I can upgrade the firmware to 9.4 through the cartridge.

Is there only one version of the game i.e. will it be certain that any cartridge that I buy will update my 2ds to 9.4? Because I understand that some games have multiple versions, e.g SSB has cartridges upgrading the firmware to 8.x, 9.2, and 10.x.

I've checked 3dsdb but I don't think it's updated.

For VC games you can just install them as CIA files using FBI or CIAngel/freeShop for official ones (with luma updated sysNAND).
CIAngel and freeShop are the same except CIAngel doesn't have a GUI, and it lets you download DLC and updates, and you can filter by region (so, better but not as pretty).

Don't update to 9.4! Update to 9.2 and use CFW. You can update by software, see https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki/9.2.0-Update
