Hello everyone. I have the latest Wii U version and I've been reading everything I can about the 5.5.x exploits, but I'm just not savvy enough to understand the risks of the recommended procedures. I hope somebody kind enough can explain some of my doubts:

1) This Loadiine GX2 topic says that both of current methods involve patching your Wii U's kernel. After I do this, what features do I keep and which become unusable? Anything that keeps me from using my Wii U and legitimate games as usual.
i.e. Can I update as normal? And while I can play online with my legitimate games, can I still patch updates them as normal? Can I still use the eshop?

2) Is it technically possible (naive question) to install a homebrew channel without patching your Wii U and disabling features?

3) I also read on Reddit that you can't brick your Wii U by patching the kernel. How true is this? It also said that you can only brick it by carelessly patching your IOS (which I'm aware can't be done right now). Is this also true?

4) Can I get banned from internet usage? What do I have to take care of if I do proceed with the procedures?

5) I'm aware of the current Homebrew Launcher, but is it possible for homebrew channel to get installed with current exploits? And if there is, what are the downsides?

Uh, I think that's it. But if I'm missing anything important, I'm all ears. I'd appreciate anything that can help me be fully informed of what I'm getting into. Thank you to everyone in advance!

Some users have stated that playing online after using an exploit renders your console "unstable" and prone to crashing, and noted that a simple reboot solved the issue. I, however, can play online just fine after using GX2.

You can still access all online services, however, if you wish to block updates (recommended), you cannot access the eShop.

Keep in mind, however, that if you hack in games online, you can be banned.

Bricking using exploits is 1000% impossible.

Since exploits only patch themselves in temporary, it is currently impossible to install any sort of homebrew that is accessible immediately after boot. All current exploits require them to be performed every single time you boot in order to work.

If you have any more questions, let us know.

The biggest damage you can cause is damage to your ears when modding games with bad BFSTM music ;D *speaks from experience*

Title Installer, anyone?

Very true. Playing around with Title Installer can cause a brick if you try something silly (Installing unsigned titles, system titles etc). This probably won't be an issue for you since you're on 5.5 however (you don't need to use the Title Installer). Other than that, there's nothing dangerous off the top of my head.

Also worth noting that anything on the vWii side has the same risks as on a real Wii (bad IOSes, channel banners etc.)

BTW I wanted to ask you since the original thread got locked: What exactly can I install? I know it has to be downloaded form NUS and has to have a valid ticket. But what can I expect to have these before I download something only to find out I can't install it?

Game updates , that's pretty much it.

Wrong. NexoCube's Title Installer had the titleID blacklist removed, allowing for installation of pretty much any title with a valid signature and cert, if I remember rightly.

You're absolutely right. I just want to know what titles have these valid sigs and certs.
Mainly free-to-download content such as YouTube, Netflix, etc. (Unsure about game demos and free games). Also, I have managed to successfully install YouTube onto my USB using Title Installer as well, in the past. And the app actually works and everything!

Thanks. I'm mainly interested in hidden / taken down stuff and maybe DLCs.

Yes , but installing a game with a valid .tik is pretty much pointless as it means that you can basically get it from the eShop.

(Since title.tik s are console unique)

But yeah , you can install free stuff (like YouTube) through Title Installer.

And game updates.

Honestly Title Installer is just a way more dangerous and bit more allowing WUP Installer.

Hell no since it's using some Nintendo's functions (MCP_InstallTitleAsync) to install these titles it's not dangerous at all.

It is as dangerous than using the eShop.
