ROM Hack 3DS XL 4.5 to 9.2 HOW?

Hey, I am planning to buy a 3DS with version firmware 4.5 on it but I can't seem to find a way to upgrade the system. How would I go about upgrading the system to 9.2 to begin hacking it?

just format the console before you start the guide, it helps prevents bricking

Just obtain the files needed for the update (listed in the guide), and you'll be fine.

EDIT: I did this in the past without formatting anything, be it my console or my SD card, and I was fine.

Okay, now does that guide talk about downgrading? I'm not looking to downgrade, I am looking to upgrade. 4.5 (or lower) to 9.2. Does the step's still apply as if I was in the downgrading situation?

Well if I got to do that, menu hax will be fine. I looked at the chart and it says to find a game cart with 9.2. I can't find one.

• A game cart that contains the version specified in the chart

I look through it but, I can't fine one. What does it mean "contains the version" then?

umm im not sure what part you read that says 4.5 need a gamecard update that would only be needed if the console has no working internet browser
assuming the browser works you only need rxtools to update sysnand

rxtools isnt supported anymore but it's still the best way to update to 9.2

for everyday use it is indeed outdated but as a tool it is still vallid

Lol so it would just stop working? What it's good for now is updating to 9.2, which is why the guide uses it. By the end of the whole guide, you will be using Luma3DS

don't use menuhax, use a9lh

menuhax is outdated just like rxtools
