I have installed a CFW on my 3ds, how do I play normal DS games on it? Without the game cartridge I mean. I have the grey and the white gateway flashcarts and an old r4i somewhere.
Currently, the only way to play DS game without a flashcart is via a recently made DS emulator. It's not perfect, but it's also still in its early stages.

If you mean you want to play with a flashcart, but they aren't working, try Flashcart Timewarp (found on some iso site), which allows flashcarts that were blocked by a 3DS update to work again or TWL Slot-1 Launcher which is an app that can launch many very old flashcarts that never worked on the 3DS.

awesome thank you very much.

Can I have one cia installed twice so two of them would appear on the home screen? For example, I installed Pokemon X, but I didn't delete it. Then, I start a game in that Pokemon X. I want to have another save file so I will install Pokemon X again, without uninstalling the first Pokemon X. Will it overwrite my first Pokemon X, or two Pokemon X's will appear on my home screen? Thank you

I don't believe this would work as they would both share the same title id. What might work is installing two different region versions of the same game though. That way the title id should be different between them. I can't guarantee this is the case though, as I've never tried.

No, each game has a unique code, and if you install a game with the same code as one you already have installed it will get overwritten.
A solution to your problem is JKSM, which lets you use save slots so you can have multiple saves for each game going at a time.

Pokemon X should share the same title ID across all regions, according to 3dsdb.com

This is the better solution.

No just no. @stuntmanjoe94
The easiest way is Sky3DS but you cannot play online if you don't want to get banned.
Do not, I repeat, do NOT use video tutorials. Use this guide instead: https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki
Read this first: https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki/Get-Started and then just follow the guide.
Do this up until Part 3 at least if you want to play free games ect ect. I recommend getting FreeShop once you're done. The only thing you need to download yourself are Custom Themes (here and here) and DLC cia's.
Follow the guide completely for the best, futureproof and easiest to maintain way to mod your 3DS.

If you have any questions left, don't hesitate to ask.

EDIT: I see you're Dutch. If you want Dutch help, send me a message. I can even set it up for you if you want and you're near me.
Thank you very much!
so best way i have is follow till part 3 and after that im done? i can play free games and dlc too? cause i was reading and with sky3ds you cant add dlc but with gateway yes but it looked not that easy.
and part 5?

The best way is to follow the guide I linked completely but please, read the guide before you start doing it. Then you can decide whether you want Emunand+MenuHax (slower boot and less boot rate, but still offers the ability for free games+dlc) or A9LH+Updated sysnand (100% boot rate, brick protection, super fast boot, no Emunand). You do not need a flashcard. I repeat, no flashcard is necessary. Sky3ds is expensive and doesn't so what you specifically need it for. Gateway.. Well.. Lets Just say that there is a reason it's called Gatewait and Brick way. Updates are taking a loooong time with Gateway, whereas Luma3DS (the cfw you get when you follow the guide) has almost daily updates. Just read the guide completely, look up/ask everything you do not understand and then have some spare hours to set it up. After you've spend that day, all you need is freeshop and some Internet skills for the rest ;)

So far, we have an emulator in the works: https://gbatemp.net/threads/wip-3desmume-ds-emulator-for-3ds.430223/
It's only just decent on new 3ds, doesn't work on o3ds. It's in the works so it may not run very good at all, but you can give it a shot. Otherwise, if you can't wait / got some money you can get a Ds flashcard. Even one that only worked on the NDS can be made working with CFW, such as the original R4. Look at nds-card.com because they're reliable and gbatemp's sponsor ;)

For DS Games, you'll need to buy a DS Flashcart.

On N3DS, you could probably look into the DS Emulator, but that's still a work in progress and not finished yet.

last question i promise...im reading and the part of the downgrade says that i can get a soft brick but it prevented by performing a system format before downgrading....if i do step 1 first and then i format do i have to do it again? or its better if i do first format then step 2 then 1 and 3 , 4 ,5 ?

You need to format before starting step 1 if you want to be sure. To be honest, I've heard people downgrading their devices without formatting and they're fine. A hardmodder here has done over 100 devices without formatting and not a single one softbricked. You don't need to do it. If you have stuff on your NAND you want to keep, you don't have to format. If you don't have anything you care about, it doesn't hurt to format anyway.

Hey guys,

using this guide (https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki/Part-5-(arm9loaderhax))I managed to install a CFW on my Old 3DS. Everything is working fine, but I still have some questions about this guide, and other stuff, hope you can help me out:

1. On Part 5 of this guide, at section 6 (Finalizing Setup), on step 7 it says that I should update if I didn´t do it until now. My CFW SysNAND is on 11.0 right now. Does this mean when there is a new official update out for the 3DS I can just go to the system settings and install the newest version without losing mit CFW and all the programs I installed (like FBI,the Homebrew launcher, etc.)?
And is it safe to keep my WiFi connection turned on all the time?

2. When I make a dump of my original games by using Uncart which I also installed using the guide, will my Savefile also be transferred? And if not, is there a way to do it?

3. Is it right that if I make a dump of my games and convert it to ".cia" files that I don´t have to worry about private headers for the games, and that I can play them online without getting banned?

4. After finishing this guide I just have a CFW on my sysNAND. Wouldn´t it be more safe to make a copy of it now and install an emuNAND or is it unnecessary?

5. Do I have to set up something like TubeHax DNS to keep my CFW? (I also have a Wii U and did it there to not make my console update automatically)

6. At the end of the guide it also shows a screenshot with the folders and data I should keep on the SD card. Since I downloaded the whole Homebrew starter kit I have lots of Homebrew on it that I don´t need right know and I will probably never use. Is it safe if I just delete the whole "3ds" folder and copy the Homebrew that I really want on it afterwards?

7. When should I usw the Homebrew Launcher? Can´t I just install the ".cia" file of the Homebrew that I want with FBI and boot it directly from the main menu?

8. By following this guide I now can start Hourglass9 or EmuNAND9 when booting the console. What´s the difference between those two? And do I even need them if I am not using an emuNAND?

9. Where can I find all the Homebrew and Emulators? Can I install every homebrew, or are some of them just for the New 3DS?

10. After finishing all the steps from the guide I have like 4 or 5 sysNAND oder redNAND backups of my system. Do I have to keep all of them?

I´m completely new to the 3DS scene, sorry for those dumb questions...

Hope you can help me out, thanks!

1. You can update just fine using System settings -> system update without losing anything
2. I don't know if the save game get transferred but you can use JK Save Manager to first export your save and then import your save again
3. Yeah once they're cia's you don't have to bother with private headers!
4. EmuNAND isn't neccessary and is only more complicated. You can however make a backup. I recommend making a NAND + SD backup every two weeks so when you have to roll back, you won't lose as much. You only need your sysNAND backup as you don't have and don't need an EmuNAND.
5. Nah, with the 3DS your CFW will protect your hax and you can always update (as far as is possible now, I don't know the future) so you don't need to set up DNS.
6. You can keep the "3ds" folder and delete the subfolders of the Homebrew you don't need. You can always redownload them. Every homebrew you want to show up in your homebrew launcher has to be put in the "3ds" folder.
7. You can just use the cia files for the homebrew, if they provide one. But not all homebrew supply a cia file so you have to use the .3dsx file for it in the homebrew launcher
8. Hourglass9 can make and restore your backups while keeping A9LH installed. EmuNAND9 is for people who want an EmuNAND (for example a Japanese EmuNAND on a USA console) and you can format your SD card correctly with EmuNAND9.
9. You can basically install every homebrew, but some functions might not work on O3DS (such as streaming with NTR) or the DS emulator which runs really bad on O3DS. You can find a list of homebrew here.
10. Best to keep a clean 9.2 backup without A9LH installed for when you want to remove A9LH. You can delete all other backups you've made, only keep the most recent one. They're pretty big so they can take up quite some space.
If you have any more questions, don't hesitate to ask or send me a message!

I used plailects guide, It went wrong on the same i/o error as before, Ive tried using a diffrent SD card and it worked. None the less all my games are gone

Did you copy over your SD card content? I believe most of the games are stored in the Nintendo 3DS folder that needs to be copied over :P
