In case the title gave you a headache, what I would like to request, if possible, would be a way to access Netflix on the (n)3ds and to have it work.

How about you just download the NETFLIX APP???
Well yes, i have thought of that, for months now, I tried it on 3 different n3ds systems that I was able to get in contact with, I tried it under different versions emunand, sysnand, reset the system multiple times and for me, the Netflix app simply does NOT work.

To elaborate more on, " does NOT work":
I can download the Netflix app, have tried it both from eshop directly, as well as "that 3ds site", also tried from freeshop, etc. The application WILL launch the first time. It allows me to Log in, and browse the selection, but it will not allow me to play anything.
If I close the application out, and try to access it again. I get the error message below:

ERROR:
Cannot connect to Netflix. Please try again later. If the problem persists, please visit netflix.com/tvhelp on your computer.

==EDIT==
According to IVAN from Netflix:
Netflix Ivan
I confirmed with Nintendo that the Netflix app on the 3DS is compatible only in the US and Canada, people make it work outside those regions using VPNs or proxies but those programs are not exactly supported by Netflix, that is why Netflix gives you that error..
==EDIT==

I have multiple DNS settings, time is correct, also deleted the application completely, including any saved data, and re-install it and still the same issue as described above.

There are hundreds of different online threads on this but none have been useful. I had also given up and tried from the n3ds browser directly, but it does not work at all. Sadly.

So today I would like to ask for a possible way to launch Netflix on the n3ds with out using the official application.

Either via homebrew, or a direct CIA file, that will simply allow access to netflix and still be able to play the content correctly.

Anyone have any ideas for this, could it be possible?

You would have to create an app from scratch, because it isn't open source
hmm, what about some type of modified web browser? That could also be useful for more than just Netflix, maybe worth the trouble, would that be easier?

It's pretty much pointless requesting anything on here only about 1% of requests ever get made.

I know, its worth the try, I am also sure other people would like netflix working, yes/no/maybe
Don't know about that the 3ds would be my last choice to watch Netflix on but then I do have several other devices to use.

this.

OP the request involves a pretty heavy amount of work. Netflix uses DRM to protect their content and this DRM is something that costs big $$ and would be a pain to try and replicate. Not to mention none of the API's are public. You might have a better chance of convincing netflix to release an update than to get someone to make a homebrew for it.

That is true, I guess I didnt know how complex it would be.

Web browser might take some work, as even on iPhone and Tablets require an app to run netflix

Because the 3ds app can only access their servers from north america

I guess Ill have to give that VPN thing a try, what are you using to get VPN on 3ds?

Netflix Ivan
It's ok, thank you. I know what is going now.
Netflix Ivan
I'll explain real quick
Netflix Ivan
I confirmed with Nintendo that the Netflix app on the 3DS is compatible only in the US and Canada, people make it work outside those regions using VPNs or proxies but those programs are not exactly supported by Netflix, that is why Netflix gives you that error.. What you can do is give a quick call to Nintendo support and see if there is a way to make it work in Costa Rica, probably with a firmware update
You
Is that a limit placed by nintendo, or netflix's developers?
Because if it is my the app's design, then that would be with you guys,
Netflix Ivan
It is on both ends, Nintendo and Netflix develop the app, but usually the regional restrictions are set by the manufacturer.
