I am trying to get CFW on my 3ds because I saw on projectpokemon that I needed it for using edited CRO parts like starters in pokemon games. However this has been a nightmare of an experience in trying to figure this out as I have been happy with my gateway.

Anyways I need some help, I am trying to install luma3ds but that noob proof guide is by far from noob proof. All it basically has is put the files in the 3ds sd card.... Any idiot can figure that out but what I want to know is how to boot it and how to install what I need to boot it and so far for my 9.2 firmware I haven't been able to find a sufficient guide.

So please someone tell how do I install 9.2 menuhax or whatever to launch in homebrew so I can do this. I got all the files I "Need" based on this video "" but I can't do much else at this point because that is for 10.1+.

Don't use menuhax, spend the extra time to set up a9lh

you even get to skip part 2 of the guide since your already on 9.2.

While the a9lh guide is brick proof, you seem like a newbie (if you haven't yet figured out what you can do with your 9.2fw console yet). Bricks have been known to happen because of human error so be extra careful and watch a video or something first before attempting it.
menuhax is slower and has a boot fail every now and then but probably waaay safer for a newbie

DO NOT USE A VIDEO GUIDE FOR A9LH
You more than likely will brick if you go that route.

Read the text guide over before starting. Ask questions if you have any. And use only the written guide for A9LH.

Well I am a newbie with the 3ds as I only ever wanted to use my gateway and never really cared about the extra features of cfw and more or less still don't. I could likely do the a9lh as I have experience with hacking stuff like my ps2/ps3/wii and I think a few other things.

I do got a question though, to use the RO module patch that comes with luma3ds do I need to run the backup/hacked rom through luma3ds or do I run it through gateway like normal just after I launched/installed the cfw.

Just one quick question about the site you posted, since I now have access to the homebrew launcher and am on 9.2. Do I need to do part 3 and part 4 to do the a9lh or do I just do the last part....

I may have problem I don't know yet exactly. I boot up into homebrew menu by using the slider internet browser method and this time after installing emunand9 when trying to boot into it by the same way as before it does some zip3ds on the boot and does a D or an X beside a file its checking and it does by the end of it alot of Xs on 1 menuhax file and 1 D on the same file. its strange I can send a pic if I need to.

NVM I am good..... Just got alittle worried

no problem its just downloading stuff for homebrew
Question, the guide says

So I was wondering does this mean I can't use my internet to get into homebrew because it may automatically link the id of the 3ds... Atleast thats how I see it on my end, is this correct.

  1. Go through initial setup without linking your Nintendo Network ID, you want it to remain linked only to RedNAND to prevent issues
  2. Reinstall menuhax on SysNAND as the format will have removed it
  3. Boot RedNAND

Connecting to the internet wont connect your NNID

You don't have to install menuhax, you can use any entrypoint

Ya well I did anyways but I still don't really know how to use it as it can sometimes take 10-20min just to get into homebrew the way I am. If I am lucky the first try it works not likely.

that's why I hate menuhax, it has a pretty high fail boot rate

a9lh has a 100% boot rate and boots faster then menuhax
