I dont know how to run this :/ and I don't know how to relay to my friend. Does he place the "decrypt9WIP.dat" on the root of the sd card, launch gateway and enter gateway emunand, and then go the browser and type in the link address above?

edit: if you could give me instructions on how to install this on the 3ds and how to run it, that would be super helpful. Thank you.

That's pretty much right already except for the launch gateway and emunand step. decrypt9 can access both emunand and sysnand from sysnand.

He should do everything from sysnand. Without gateway or emunand.
Put decrypt9wip.dat on sd card and launch it with that link from the 3ds browser.

just updated emunand9 and decrypt9 on luma payload chainloading...
i set "a" button on on d9 and "b" button on e9...
but upon turning on the 3ds while press-holding the desired button, nothing happens, just boot directly to home menu...

hourglass9 and godmode9 works though...
is there any fix for d9 and e9?
i forgot to tell, i reinstalled a9lh using safea9lhinstaller 2.0.1
does it affect d9 and e9?

At least check which buttons can be used for the Luma3DS chainloader first. The A button can't be used for sure, and I'm pretty sure the B button can't either.

Read the readme for ways of running D9. Also take note that some (CTRNAND / FIRM) XORpads are console unique and can't be dumped by someone else.

Every write operation degrades the SD cards life span. The good news is, it is still very unlikely for you to reach the end of it. Read the top answer here:

you can't "hide" your file, there will be always a thing to decrypt it

Of course you could, you can encrypt everything. Just keep in mind you would also invalidate that file until decryption, if you wanted to do it in any safe way.

So i completed the A9hl and loaded into my cfw sysnand by completing the guide (https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki/Part-5-(arm9loaderhax)). The issue here is I am trying to get my rom hack to install as a cia but for that i need to extract the cartridge using Decrypt9wip instead of using braindump. I cannot load Decrypt9 from homebrew or if I press L during boot its a black screen. Upon furthur reading it seems I can load Decrypt9 while a9hl is running? How do I go about running it then? I am on the latest version of Decrypt9wip as well.

If you gave the payloads the names suggested by the guide then uncart (the cartridge dumper tool) is activated by holding X when you turn on the console. Similar for the other payloads (hold the button while powering on)

Yes I can load everything accept decrypt9. I get a blank screen

Edit: wait, do I need to copy the decrypt9.bin into my sd card in the luma folder and renamed it say L_Decrypt9Wip.bin to boot into it?

I have Hg9, Uncart and EmuN9 (EmuNAND)

One possible reason for this could be that Luma3DS does not support L/R/A/B for payloads. Each of these buttons has a different function in Luma3DS.
