(sorry for another of these threads)
Hey folks,
so right now I still have menuhax/gw emunand. Since It's finally known what GW made with A9LH (which I waited for) I'd like to switch from GW to A9LH. However I am confused and I would like to ask for more info. (Maybe something of this was already stated but believe me, I searched. Also, maybe some of the questions may seems rather dumb, but I am able to brick a stone when my autism strikes, so I rather ask than have bricked device.

First of all, I would like to have possibility to boot into GW emunand even when I have A9LH with Luma. Luma is working just with sysnand, right? How it will work with GW? Like, when I install games on Luma, will they be playable from GW emunand and vice versa? Also, will this setup have any restrictions?

I have my acc. and all games I bought on that emunand. I don't obviously want to lose it, since I have this acc. over 4 years already and have a great amount of games there. Is it possible somehow to move the acc from emunand to luma? I don't care about stuff that I have installed right now, I'll just dump saves, but as game collector I don't want to lose that stuff I have bought.

Thanks for help!
(also, I have N3DS, for future reference of this thread(hopefully))

Check out this guide. Basically you can run Luma through A9LH, and run Gateway through a 9.2 SysNAND or EmuNAND using *hax like menuhax/browserhax/hb_loader cia/etc.

Even though the situation with GW and A9LH looks grim, there's still a chance that we will be able to use a true GW A9LH boot.

I am not following quite entirely but; on paper you can keep your emunand on the SD card, and then if the gateway app is compatible; chainload it's loader into your Luma 3DS - if it works. If not then it is kinda SOL thing or use a bootmanager that can buut DAT files to launch the gateway launcher I guess. Not an expert, someone else knows better.

ur in the same boat I am. I decided to ditch gateway entirely. it would seem that 3ds games to cia is very easy.

It is with simple CIA converter, just make NCCDAT make counter data with your 3DS (and Decrypt9 works from A9LH fully if you have all the keys needed in files) and just wait a little. FBI2 is also really nice but I would hope someone made better SockFile like SocketPunch or FalconPunch that works for FBI II DX Gold etc.

that's actually what I used. however, with FBI, the console froze when installing Bravely Second. I don't know y. I'm installing via the dev menu atm.

edit: I'm now installing one game at a time.

I used *.3ds file like once, when the GW arrived just out of curiosity, but TBH all games I want to play I have bought, only pirated ones are out of region games or games I just want to try. I don't actually care about the moral thing of pirating games but I like to support company when I like their game/s.

And thanks for the guide.

Right now dumping emunand... Thinking about GW, if I should ditch it completely because I can't see the point of having one right now, except the cheats and maybe they came with somethig great SOON?

And well, yeah sorry if its hard to understand me, I know my english is not good so much and I often have problems with explaining myself.

Yeah, please don't use the GW's A9LH, it's quite a horrible version of A9LH, with the information we do have.

If you want to switch to A9LH, then use Plailect's guide to do.
Link: https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki

As for not losing anything on your emunand. The cleanest approach I can think of and have used, is to back up that emunand using Emunand9, then backup your SD Card files, the most important being the Nintendo 3DS folder files that are tied to that emunand.

After that, just follow the guide, and at Part 5, Section IV, Step 5, instead of using emuNAND_original.bin, use the emunand backup of your gw emunand.

Be sure to read the guide and follow it carefully, take it slow and don't rush the process.

Oh, is it like this? I maybe badly explained what I wanted to do. I do NOT want A9LH from GW team. I want to MOVE from GW to A9LH like I said. I want to do it by the Plailect guide. No, I dont care about the GW beta, since it's actually known what does it do. I just want to keep possibility to boot into GW emunand.

I already am following the guide.

I have sysnad v. 9.0.0. do I have to update to 9.2?

No. 9.0-9.2 work the same way.

Grrr, everything is sooo confusing to me. Why are people so bummed about slow boot.
All I do is boot it once in gw and keep my n3ds charged at all times so I don't have to go through that procedure again.
If a9lh is just so I can boot to emunand faster, whats the point.
What I don't understand is why is one better than the other?

It's choice. Your choice to use menuhax+rednand//emunand. Don't listen to people if you're happy with what you use and don't mind any of the drawbacks that come with such a setup.

That being said, people may prefer A9LH for the better boot times, or the protections it offers, such as being able to keep an updated SysNAND, if their CFW has Firm0/Firm1 protection. Access to tools like Decrypt9 and Emunand9 at boot time for making NAND backups.

My Cosmo Black 3DS uses A9LH just because I like the security that comes with A9LH, but I do have to use menuhax+emunand to boot into GW emunand to use my Gateway, yeah I am still stuck with menuhax+emunand slow load times, but at least I also don't have to worry about a friend or relative updating my SysNAND on accident.

Again, you don't have to understand why people choose to go with the setup they wish, nor do people have to understand your reasoning for yours. Ignore the haters, and stick with what makes sense to you.

P.S: I still don't recommend anyone use GW A9LH, it doesn't have Firm0/Firm1 protection from what I read, it locks you down into GW A9LH, and you pretty much have to have your red card. Also, seems like NAND backups do not work at all.

I thank you for giving me some light about what's up right now. In all seriousness; wat i heard was :... ....don't worry.. update sysnand... accident. You got me hooked. What is this, I need.
If i do go for the a9lh thing are games going to run any smoother?
