I currently have a N3DS running system software 9.90-26U with ironhax installed, on which I'm trying to play the recently released SEGA 3D Classics cartridge. I've been able to skip the update through regionfour, and the game starts up properly. The problem occurs when I select a game to play from the compilation's menu. It'll go to a black screen for a while, then kick me out back to the home menu. I'm assuming it has something to do with how the separate internal game titles are launched, but is there any way to get it to launch the individual games properly? Sorry if there's already been any threads like this, I haven't touched any 3DS stuff for quite a while.

Something I'm 99% sure will work as you should do anyway is downgrade and get a cfw trust me follow the guide properly and it won't brick and it's HEAVEN and you'll be able to bypas in emunand same thing happened to me with fates

Is emunand available for those without a gateway card? Last time I recall looking into it, you needed to buy something like that (unless I was mistaken to begin with).
Assuming I do downgrade though, will I have to worry about my officially installed titles no longer working?

Which guide(s) would you recommend taking a look at? I know there are probably quite a few, but I've never messed with this stuff on 3DS before.

the benifit though going all the way is being 99.99% Brick-proof (remember A9LH can be Broken if something Hoses FIRM0/FIRM1), 100% Bootrate, Much much faster load times Espically if your using a SD/microSD thats 16GB+ set w/ a 64kb cluster size, + not Really needing EmuNAND as all can be done now in SysNand w/ A9LH, and abilty to run ARM9 Payloads w/o needing a Sysnand @ 9.2 [BootCTR9/Luma3DS[Formilly AuReiNand]/CtrBootmanager9

BUT espically w/ N3DS users its about an hour or so extra effort w/ the one part that spooks everyone is the "Flash downgraded EmuNAND and PRAY" (since no CFW can boot a 2.1 EmuNAND to test) but theres tools for N3DS users to make Sure that goes w/o Issue (O3DS users we have that nailbiting moment after flashing to SysNAND if we've bricked or not)

just Follow plai's guide to the tee if you go that far but subsitute ReiNand w/ Luma3DS(AuReiNand)

I agree that going all of the way through with the guide has its benefits. I've done it 11 times already, so I know that the guide will work if followed to the letter. I simply also took OP's lack of experience with 3DS modding into consideration, by providing a stopping point for having a bootable CFW with Updated RedNAND and FBI Injection for CIA installation. That way, OP can have a little hands-on experience with CFW before deciding to go the distance.

A9LH is a great hack that has proven to be a gamechanger. I'm not disputing this fact at all. I'm just a believer of the right hack for the right user. Downgrading to 9.2, installing MenuHax, and setting up a CFW+RedNAND will teach OP the basic principles of maintaining a modded 3DS. OP is a self-admitted noob. Let's get the fundamentals down instead of just jumping into the deep end.

Here's another guide which will help you set up ctrboot manager.

http://gbatemp.net/threads/tutorial...luding-emunand-coldboot-cia-installer.405589/

The Plailect guide doesn't do this because the end target is A9LH.

I have A9LH on both of my 3DSs, and I love it, but if you're new to the scene -- which you appear to be -- you may be overwhelmed by it. You may want to try MenuHax/EmuNAND first, and if you feel brave you can later ascend to the A9LH heights. Setting up EmuNAND is part of getting A9LH in any case, so you're not doing anything extra by stopping there for the time being.

edit: I see I'm not the only one with that opinion!! ;)

IMHO the major benefit of a9lh is that DSiware and GBA games just work without any extra effort or risk (since they have to be installed to sysnand either way, and installing anything to sysnand without a9lh is dangerous). The 100% boot rate is nice but secondary.
