I'm interested in buying a Gateway 3DS card and I wanna know where its development is at. I own a supercard DSTWO and am very satisfied with it.

1. How mature is it? Is it at the functionality and stability level of the supercard DSTWO?

2. How many roms can I load into a single card?

3. Is it able to play 3ds games released in 2016?

4. Are there any roms that it is NOT compatible with?

5. should I just get the supercard dstwo plus instead, since it also supports 3ds games?

I'd say just go the free route. If you're planning to buy a Gateway because your system is ready for it (meaning your sysNAND's on 9.2), you're better off using another CFW, such as Luma. Does almost the exact same thing, the only difference being is you save $80.

1) If you mean original DSTWO then it isn't even the same card. If you mean DSTWO PLUS then RIP because the latter one is actually a clone of Gateway 3DS.
2) As many as you want.
3) Maybe
4) Unknown
5) Nope. Do what Melon_Bread suggests.

Everyone is going to say to go the free route with CFW because it's free but with a gateway 3ds you won't have to worry about the 300 install limit or worry about installing any games at all, just drag and drop your 3ds games on a microsd card and you are good to go.

Generally speaking if you must go with a flashcart at least get a Sky3DS+. Then you don't have to worry about if a future firmware will support it. Yes it costs more but later on if you go with A9LH or Emunand or whatever then it will still work.

I think you will have a hard time finding a single person on this message board that will tell you this is a good idea.

What's your present FW version?

For the time being, since you're clearly new to the 3DS scene and you haven't done any research, I'd shy away from Arm9LoaderHaX (A9LH). You can always do that later. You should instead simply set up MenuHax with an EmuNAND and Custom Firmware (CFW).

The Plialect guide linked to above will get you there in the first two sections.

Instead of section two, you can use this guide which will help you set up a boot manager.

http://gbatemp.net/threads/tutorial...luding-emunand-coldboot-cia-installer.405589/

The Plialect guide does not because it uses EmuNAND simply as a transition and safety net for setting up A9LH.

Now finish your broccoli!

There is! But 300 is a lot! I'm at about 150 right now, and that's about everything I want to play. Nintendo unfortunately isn't going to come out with another 150 games before they move on to the New New Super 4DS Advance.

With gateway card you can, load up games to the cart and play roms straight away offline (or own dumps online). With CFW you need to wait a while while the s*** installs and since gateway uses a CFW too you can choose to install s*** for online play any way.
But if you buy a GW you support the original team that made it possible and thus in effect continue their work to release updates to current GW owners.
Either way you need to be on 9.2 or lower or downgrade to it.

Will the custom cfw mess up my supercard DSTWO(not the plus version)?
What are the cfw downsides?

My 3ds firmware is a 2014 version. I haven't updated in 2 years.

What are the downsides of cfw compared to flashcarts?
