You can see my problem here: https://gbatemp.net/threads/need-help-new3ds-2-1-for-otp.423361/

So, I sent it to modder and the nand can't be detected. Seems like it's not the card reader problem. He tried it with O3DS and success. Then, he discussed it with other modders. And one of them told my modder that he got 4 units too that can't be detected. He checked the first and second unit, and both are Samsung NAND. He forgot the other two. Mine is also Samsung.

Is there a solution? My modder told me to replace the motherboard (seems very expensive and hard to find) or made it as cannibal victim (get its parts to repair other console). From the NAND dumping/restore tutorial thread recommended card readers aren't available in my country.

Put high res pictures of the work in that thread and who did you pay? No actual console modder would tell you to do such a thing if they made a mistake like that, reputation is worth more than money so who is it that fucked you like this.

Try using this card reader its recommended the most http://www.ebay.com/itm/Anker-USB-3...176829?hash=item4d21d656bd:g:2BgAAOSwQItT31d9
You can see my country flag, so I don't think you don't know where am I. I just sent it to local modder. If I ship my bricked to them, the shipping cost maybe can buy a new one. The card reader is also does not ship to my country.

Can you atleast post high res pictures of your mother board in that thread clearly something is not right. Either solder splashed and bridged something or the board was burnt. Maybe a CLK point got ripped.

yo i have like the same thing, i hard modded my n3ds xl, have a supported reader, done my franken sd many times over and it's perfect with ther multimeter, all my contacts are fine, but it's not that it's NOT detected, it just takes lots of patcience, what i have to do is, enable the 3ds with the franken + reader connected and here is the fkt part, i have to plug in my usb cable many many times, the longest run i had to do was 7 hours before plugging in my 3ds would show on my pc. just make sure you have the correct error code's as long you have the 200 40000 thinggie or so you're good to go. many of the FFFFFF codes mean trouble, if you know your setup is fine, try difffernt computers and just keep plugging the usb cable in and out. i'll upgrade my hardmod soon to a micro usb port and then i'll report if my hard mod works more consistent

For the NAND will be detected, the length of the wires should be as short as possible.
With Adafruit micro USB breakboard, wire lenghts are :
* New 3DS : CLK = 4 cm / DAT0 = 5 cm / CMD = 6 cm (GND = about 2.5 cm)
* New 3DS XL : CLK = 5 cm / DAT0 = 6 cm / CMD = 7 cm (GND = about 2.5 cm)

For micro USB cable modified SD, length must be 21 cm maximum.

The NAND detection also depends on the SD reader model (with or without cable built-in).

i have really short wires. i'll post a picture, i am the one that ordered the adafruit from your website :) im just waiting for it to arrive, i don't understand the french tracking site though, this is my current setup, it's just waiting for the adafruit from you:

as you can see from the pictures i have the supported transcend 8k reader, and this setup does work but it takes forever, i really need to plug the usb out and in for hours :s
i have ordered a anker but it has to be shipped from america to netherlands

better in what way?, the transcend "when" it works copys with 5.3mb/per sec just using the dat0, the only thing that needs to work better for me is the computer reconizing it part haha, if the anker does not work i'll order that one from you, how long you think my order will take to netherlands? and what you think about my setup? does it look good enough? the only size i exceed is my ground, that's like a 6cm wire instead of 2.5 but i realllyyy don't wanna solder it to the powerboard where you do it, i have shaky hands :P

At first, I have ordered and tested the Anker model (2 pcs ordered from Amazon) but it was capricious depending on the length of the wires/cable.
It takes longer to detect the device under Windows than the other model I have found later.
It is more expensive and therefore has less appeal.

takes longer, what do you mean, like you plug it in and WAIT and after a while it finds it, or also having to put the usb out and in all the time?

Yes wait about 4 seconds before the device icon appears on screen.
It's destabilizing the first time because it feels that it does not work... :hateit:
But it works. ^_^'

i used your diagrams, they are exacly like yours done, yes i get grey icon with the sd reader, i can put micro sd in and it works, but if i boot up 3ds with franken + reader, i get the 00000200 00400000 error and when i plug in to the pc it stays grey, i can make a video if you want, very sometimes my computer reconizes it and i get the format nand option, and i can restore with win32disk, but that takes hours of connecting and disconnecting

Try to reduce the length of wires as I said earlier (5/6/7 cm) and solder them in the same direction as this picture shows :

new_3ds_xl_dots_welding.jpg

If you are affraid to solder CLK like the picture, keep the same location where you have already soldered.
Reduce the length of GND too (yours is too long).

If you haven't better result (the device is detected but icon stays grey tint), your SD reader is not compatible with the eMMC model of your motherboard.
You need another SD reader to have strong icon.

i use those 2, but i use altern CLK, i have cmd and dat0 on those spots though, i'll move my ground when i receive the adafruit, for now my 3ds works and ther is no reason to fight around with it =) i have tried many different setups i've used ground from the cartridge and stuff. this one is the shortest ground i can do, the one you use is to small for my shaky hands, and my reader is confirmed working for the new 3ds xl, i'll see when i receive one of my 3 different i ordered if it makes any difference, if not i'll try other stuff

DAT0 and CMD points are the same but length of wires is too long if I take a look behind your motherboard :

The GND length is incredible !!! oO'
If your reduce the wires I think you will get the detection OK.
