Hacking Updated SysNAND or EmuNAND? (Arm9loaderhax)

Which one is more beneficial and better? I've heard a lot of talk about how people prefer updatedsysnand mode with A9LH since they have more space and can play gba titles and whatnot but others say EmuNAND is better because it's safer and more ideal for noobs who are new to this. My question is which one is better? I'm currently running updatedsysnand mode with my N3DS XL on AuReiNand CFW but want to see if I should go back to EmuNAND or if I made the right choice changing to Updated SysNAND like I did just recently

They are pretty similar in the end.

Updated sysNAND means no need to install GBA/DSi games to a sysNAND that you aren't otherwise using (and no having to reboot after ending a GBA game, as you'd be booted into sysNAND to make saves work).
Ditching emuNAND saves about 1GB of space from your SD card.

On the other hand, if you are dicking with sysNAND and brick it, you better have a backup. You better have a backup anyway, but having both sysNAND and emuNAND means that if you break one, you can restore it from the other if something bad happens.

Besides that, there's no specific reason not to move your main NAND to sysNAND, whether you want to free some space on the SD card or keep an emuNAND for whatever purpose. Make sure you keep NAND backups in a safe place, whatever the case.

^This, but also if you follow plailect's guide, you'd already have sysnand and emunand backups so there's always a solution if problems arise. I keep emunand to use browser exploits for Pokemon, but cfw sysnand is where it's at. The big draw to go for A9LH.

Yeah. I think an important thing to remember is that you can always use both. There's no reason not to use updated sysNAND for your primary NAND with A9LH. You can still have an emuNAND. If you have a N3DS with a 1.8GB NAND chip, I'd recommend RedNAND over GW EmuNAND to save space, but the 1.2GB my emuNAND takes isn't a big deal if you have a reasonable sized SD card.

I decided to make a Japanese emuNAND for the novelty of it, but you can always use it for some other purpose, like a downgraded browser in your case. There's very little for a 9.2 NAND now (Gateway is the only notable thing I can think of that uses 9.2 exploits and doesn't yet have an A9LH version) so switching to sysNAND is a no-brainer.

See I don't play vc gba I just use retro arch gba emulator and that works perfectly, because of this I tend to stick with emunand as if anything does go wrong with it my sysnand is untouched and its cheaper to buy a sd card then it is to buy a n3dsxl.
1gb of space isn't that much when my card isn't even full anyway and on it I have every snes, Genesis, master system and nes games on it as well as a few psx, Gameboy and gba games not to mention about 15 3ds games as well all on my 64gb card. Still have about 13gb free

I personally use an updated sysnand but keep a 9.2 emunand just in case. Though the primary reason for doing that was so I could update the sysnand without having to take my 3ds apart so that I could copy an updated firmware.bin to the sd card but AuReiNand will no longer need firmware.bin by the time there is a system update.

Yeah but the best thing about A9LH is that you can just boot into a program and restore a backup from before the brick: tada! You don't need a hard mod and you don't need to buy a new device!

Unless your nand hard bricks while messing around with it, another reason why keeping emunand going is a good backup if the extra space isn't a concern

The only way you can hard brick your nand with a9lh is if you brick firm0/firm1 which is very difficult to do. About the only way is to be careless with godmode9.

Again, cheaper to buy an sd than it is to buy a n3ds xl. Also the space isn't a concern for me at the moment so why fix what's not broken

Well keep in mind that the only things that can brick your firm0/firm1 (such as being careless with godmode9 or certain sysnand restore options in decrypt9) can still do so even if you use emunand because they run at the a9lh/brahma level rather than from cfw. You can literally pull the battery while doing a system update without a hard brick with a9lh.

Take a look at my join date, that's when I first started 3DS hacks. I know it's not that long ago, but it's still a long time.
I have NEVER bricked a 3DS before in all this time! It's not easy to brick, you'd have to really try to brick in order to make it happen. Once you're done setting everything up, all you literally do is install Cia's and play games. What more can you do to brick at this point?

I'm not afraid of bricking my sysnand, especially since I made a Nand backup, and backed it up on a few sites. I'm also not afraid of bricking because it's SO uncommon, you'd have to be very stupid to actually brick somehow.
Anyone mentioning bricks on sysnand, just stop being afraid. Nothing is gonna happen, everyone has common sense enough not to brick. Even if something required you to do something dangerous, there's always a guide on how it's done. I personally think the only brick-prone part is downgrading. After that, you're pretty much brick proof. The only bricks that happen after that are from stupidity and noobity (Made up a word)

Bottom Line, updated sysnand works perfect for me and I'm living the good life with a 128 GB SD and the latest AuReiNand. It doesn't get any better than this and NOTHING is gonna happen to me.

I strongly agree with this as because of this EmuNAND doesn't provide anymore protection from bricking as sysNAND does which is why I went ahead and switched to updated sysNAND on A9LH in the first place

SysNAND all the way! That extra space added more space for more games! Plus with A9LH and CFW with Firm1/0 protection, there's just no reason to keep emuNAND around anymore.

Just use AuReiNand it has firm0/1 protection so you can update your sysNAND without losing A9LH and has a very self explanatory configuration

Yeah you can do that through Decrypt9 and then Erase your EmuNAND and use updated SysNAND mode with AuReiNand Custom Firmware(it's a CFW)
