Yeah you can do that through Decrypt9 and then Erase your EmuNAND and use updated SysNAND mode with AuReiNand Custom Firmware(it's a CFW)
I already did it on another 3ds but I will wait until gw release a9lh support. Until then using emunand is ok

Unless your nand hard bricks while messing around with it, another reason why keeping emunand going is a good backup if the extra space isn't a concern
I personally prefer sysnand, because it actually uses the new 3ds's hardware instead of the sd. After installing a9lh, it gives me the stock feel again.

With my experience with emunand (menuhax), it sometimes lags when say, you go to your notifications or press the power button and it delays a second after you press it.

Question so does AuReiNand not detect you have A9LH installed (I do) unless you turn on the "Force A9LH Detection" option?

The only way you can hard brick your nand with a9lh is if you brick firm0/firm1 which is very difficult to do. About the only way is to be careless with godmode9.
I have a question to ask you about this. Would this mean you can not recover from a brick updating a9lh without firm protection? That is assuming aureinand did not have it.

If i remember correctly, aureinand has firm protection of you update sysnand. Is it enabled by default? I'm hoping that is not those things that have to enable yourself. :/

Yes, it is enabled by default and I don't believe it is possible to turn it off. The only reason godmode9/decrypt9 can brick your firm0/firm1 (if you are careless) is because they don't run under aureinand but rather before it. Or to be more precise, the aureinand chainloader will load decrypt9/godmode9 instead of loading the normal cfw payload.

Ah but lets say nintendo found a fix for this a9lh (if it ever happens), will the brick be uncoverable? Updating without firm protection will lead to an unrecoverable brick even with a9lh right?

Yes, assuming they could do that you would either end up with a fully up to date system or a hard brick that can only be fixed via hardmod. However, in order to do that they would need to use an arm9 exploit and it is highly unlikely that they are holding onto one for that purpose or are even capable of finding one themselves. Remember, this is the same Nintendo that couldn't get GBA games working on the Wii U virtual console, they had to hire another company to do it for them. Not to mention failing to fix memchunkhax despite two attempts to do so. Even if they did manage to do that I doubt they would use it because by doing so they would be revealing a new arm9 exploit to the world which would quickly be reverse engineered.

Still, your best bet is to wait a day or two after an update is released for confirmation that it is safe to do so.
