This is a small installer I made in Innoscript for the greatest Super Metroid romhack evaa.
It's using version 2.1 Final of the romhack

Background music is from the soundtrack of the game. Oh that timeless level 1.
Game will default to aspect ratio correction on

This is for 64-bit machines. I didn't build one for 32 bit code.
You need your own SNES rom of the game.
Rename it to GAMEDATA.sfc and put it in the DATA folder.

It's using a custom build of SNES9x 1.53 with a Metroid icon.

Looks interesting! Can you help me understand what exactly this is? Is it a tool to install a rom hack, or the hacked game itself?

It's a Setup Wizard. Exactly like the ones that comes on the "Setup" discs that come with games on pc.

A Setup Wizard automates installing a program. Like making shortcuts installing font, registry changes, etc.

Is it a tool to install a rom hack, or the hacked game itselft
It doesn't patch anything, but It includes the fully patched game.

Hmm I was under the impression it was abandonware. I can download Warcraft II from Abandonia. Should I be removing it?

Copyright is actually valid for 70 years after the copyright owner's death.
In addition "All works published in the United States before 1923 are in the public domain. Works published after 1922, but before 1978 are protected for 95 years from the date of publication."
Abandonware, as far as copyright law is concerned, is a completely bullshit term, because none of these things were published before 1923. If you go to court and tell them you weren't doing anything illegal because the software is abandonware they will laugh at you.

The term abandonware just goes by whether the software is still for sale by the copyright owner, something that doesn't have any effect on copyright law, but even if it did, Nintendo still sells their old games through Virtual Console, so Super Metroid wouldn't even be considered abandonware.

What you can do, is include an IPS or xdelta patch, and have the installer patch an existing ROM the user has already downloaded.

You may want to take down the link and then PM a mod to ask if it's ok to post it here
Roger roger. Is there a moderator list I wherein I may find a moderator to do the aforementioned? Ha. Formal... Ha.

Lol it looks like no one's online right now. If I had to pick someone off of that list to ask the question to, though, I would say the most readily available authority on the matter would be p1ngpong

super metroid is for sale on the N3ds and wii u. Abandonware is a fan-made term that has no legal bearing. This is against the rules of gbatemp and is illegal for it to be hosted here (illegal distribution of copyrighted material).

Now hosting it somewhere else and hinting how to find it, that's fine.

edit: ninjad....sort of :P

Yeah I thought about doing that already. I will do that. Thanks for the advice

UPDATE: Going with the Automatic IPS patching method. Gonna make people get their own copy by themselves

UPDATE: It's compiling now

UPDATE: Assflashery fixed!

I'm confused. Is this just a way to treat the ROM like a standalone application or what?
Yep, made this basically into a windows game (still emulated tho)
Did this because I wanted an exe in steam.

Using SteamICE in the future tho! lol
