I'm currently on:
  • old 3ds
  • Sysnand 9.2.0
  • Emunand RX-E 10.3.0
  • FBI 1.4.17
When the downgrade became stable, I went and hacked my 3ds, surprisingly it went nice and smooth. I updated to 10.3 and played for a few days and then a load of work came by and I stopped playing and following the hacking scene. I saw that there's a few FW updates and even a new CFW called reinand(?).

What should I do to get Up to date with all of this? I imagine I can't update Emunand right now? My entry point was browserhax and I have LOZ:OoT cia installed if that helps. I'm a noob, so whatever help is welcome. Thanks.

First, you should install menuhax if you haven't already done so if you want to set up your 3DS to launch rxTools emuNAND at boot.
Second, you can absolutely update your emuNAND from 10.3 to 10.7.

rxTools is a fine CFW, and there's no immediate need to switch to something else. Some people will likely recommend A9LH+AuReiNand, but there's no real tangible benefit of it over menuhax other than faster boot times. Setting up A9LH is also a lot of time-consuming work with a tiny brick risk.

Well you don't need to use browser hax anymore you can install menuhax so you can boot directly to CFW you want to use. (Get the new starter.zip from smea's site it includes menuhax installer)

RXtools is making slow progress now only one dev is still working on the project but it's still good for an o3ds.

If you want to swap to another CFW the easy option is aureinand easy to setup and runs from most entry points.

Once your more upto date might want to look into Arm9loaderhax, setup is long and same risk as you took for the downgrade to 9.2, but once completed boots right away to CFW

Menuhax is when you press 'L' when booting, correct? If so, I already have it. If I can update to the latest FW on rxtools, I have no problem with waiting a few seconds to boot. And about that, I believe the version I have of rxtools is outdated? Does it matter? I don't recall what version it is but I imagine it has to be an old one right?

If your rxTools emuNAND works with 10.3, then it will work with 10.7 without an update to rxTools. If you want to update rxTools, use the latest nightly. Make sure you delete your rxTools folder (while keeping the firm folder) before replacing it with the new one.

RXTools is not the recomended CFW by some time now. Also L on boot is usually for Arm9Loaderhax to boot on different things, thought u can set it up to load menuhax, but it can mess with other things on this key.

There is nothing wrong with rxTools, and it includes some basic features that many custom firmwares don't have by default (region-free, abg_firm patch, etc.). I consider it to be the best CFW for beginners.

Yes that correct, no need to update rxtools as your using a O3DS

He is not talking about A9LH but menuhax default boot key

Maybe the OP will never install A9LH, but all that can be changed later by using the menuhax app again via HBL

Pre A9LH I was using autoboot mode so holding DPad-Down would disable booting of menuhax.

I didn't want to throw too much info onto OP right now more get them a little more upto date, not my system
