Homebrew Does 9.2 do anything if I don't have a gateway?

Yes it worth it, you'll be able to do pretty much everything possible, gateway isnt a requirement !

2.You can install CFW-EmuNand Which is great!

no really if you follow guides, tutorials step by step you wont loose anything, from Mii to friendlist to themes to anything.

That is optional, if you want to do it, backup your WHOLE SDCard in the Computer!

There is little to nothing gateway offers that reading this subforum won't be able to get you for free. At this point gateway just provides a bit of convenience and the ability to play roms without installing them(just install them and save yourself the cost of a flashcart)

I actually downgraded my N3DS yesterday with prior knowledge of that stuff. I had important things on it and i never lost my stuff. In fact when you start the process of getting an emuNand (And you should!) your stuff gets transferred to it. However my friend tried to downgrade his O3DS and his Super Smash Bros. couldnt read the latest data for some reason.
