What format is your hard drive. It should be fat32 and not ntfs or exfat. Hard drives usually start off as ntfs so you're probably going to have to format it to fat32

they're working, the system recognizes the drive. the games just won't play when i try to. right now its showing some apps on the drive and not others for some reason; so i cant even try to play the games as of now. i bought the system new, this is the first time i used the usb ports. The only other suggestion i can give is to get a y cable for the drive. If your flash drive isnt working either and you didnt change anything like you said, then maybe your usb port is going out?
Running everything from the HDD is not recommended. Most of us are running with an SD+HDD configuration and never have any problem.
If you your HDD is not compatible or is corrupted (always a risk if you writes to the HDD), you just can't do anything.
Is the pic you shown is all the content of your SD?
What is inside the apps folder? and what is inside those sub-folders inside the apps folder?
To have HBC list the apps, you need at least \apps\name of homebrew\boot.dol
if no boot.dol exist in each of the homebrew folder, they won't show
if no icon.png exist, there will be only a blank slot
if no meta.xml, there won't be any info screen for the app and the app might simply not run
there are specific folders in the SD that will run automatically on boot, that may be why moving everything to HDD and remove the SD works, but that really isn't the solution.
If there is a \bootmii folder on the SD, rename it to something else, I would rename the \Private folder too.
Or better yet backup your SD, fully re-format your SD to FAT32 and copy only the apps folder back and re-boot. It that still doesn't solve your problem, then it is not your SD but something else.
It also could be the hard drive. Try updating the firmware. cIOS beta53-alt has compatibility issues. I'd stick with beta 52.
I re downloaded usb loader gx and nintendont and it now shows up again in home brew screen.
It says I only have about 1800gb free of about 1800+ but my Mbp says I have 2tb out of 2tb? with only 3 games installed; Is there a hidden partition after all?
Tried to play GameCube game it says "set main GameCube path...." I attached a photo of whole message.
Tried to launch a wii game it has no banner or whatever it's blank no sound and when I press play it sends me back to homebrew channel screen. This is where I was initially at.
Still can't figure out what exactly is going wrong.
Theres nothing wrong with installing WADs on vWiiFirst of all, Dont.
Installing wads on a vWii its a big No No.
The pics show your game folder structures and path to the games and folders are mostly correct. The HDD is probably compatible or else the games won't show at all.
Try using Wiibackupmanager to verify the sha-1 of your Wii games if they were corrupted.
The error message for the gamecube games probably means your FAT32 partition isn't the first partition (possibly a hidden partition or something) or not marked as primary. If you are on Windows, you can use 3rd party partition managers such as easeus to view and manage your partitions.
PS: make sure your usbloadergx channel is in fact a forwarder, launch the channel and then go into settings->credit and see if the you are in fact using usbloadergx r1260 and the cios slot is in fact 249/250. if not, uninstall the channel and install forwarder v5.1
You should also verify your newly re-downloaded usbloader gx is in fact the latest and nintendont is 3.38x

im attaching a pic of the program you suggested. disk 2 is my ehd. i just found out "2tb" does not in fact mean 2tb of free space. it says its the only partition and primary correct? i can't really tell like i said i don't know a lot about all this.
anyways i have to get to bed, i will reply to and try the suggestions of everything else tomorrow.
I disagree. Most of the people I talked to when I first got into this said to just use the hdd and acted like I was crazy for even owning an SD card. Plus, I was having this same issue, copied everything over to my hdd from my SD card, and everything worked fine. So, we can agree to disagree on the subject. Just keep a backup on your SD card in case of hdd failure, like I do.Running everything from the HDD is not recommended. Most of us are running with an SD+HDD configuration and never have any problem.

I always have backups of everything, as everyone should, q but what does it matter if you use one or the other? If the hdd fails you lose everything anyway. Regardless, as I stated, I had this same issue and doing what I said corrected my issue. If it is a hard drive issue, then you are right and none of this matters. Seems easier to try what I said first rather than buying a new hdd. Anyway, is your 2tb completely full?you keep backups of a 2TB hdd?? good luck!
Well it is a kind of personal choice to use SD or not, but trying to avoid problems without knowing the cause is not a good way to solve problems. Plus if you got an incompatible HDD to begin with, you simply won't know where to start troubleshooting.

Make sure in your USB Loader settings that you are loading the correct IOS. Try blocking IOS Reload as well.
