Then update it to 4.78 D-REX?

I apologize if I don't follow you.
What exactly do you want to do?
Upgrade the HDD to a 500 GB one alone or switch FW to some specific FW to use CCAPI? or?

I wanna use my NEW hard drive (no firmware on it) with rebug d-rex 4.78 then enable qa-flag and downgrade to 3.55 OFW and start up a fresh CFW. The End...

Ah.
Yeh, just plonk in the new HDD, put the 4.78 D-REX on a flashdrive, update it, install the toolbox, toggle the QA flag, downgrade with the Rebug downgrader and update to a new CFW.

If you mind me asking, you going to 4.76 for CCAPI? or something else specific?
Cause if you just go back and update to 4.78 D-REX, it seems a bit pointless to downgrade ;p

Well yes I am gonna downgrade to 3.55 OFW then install kmeaws cfw for 3.55 then install the debug settings package then go to Rebug 4.76 D-Rex

Fair enough.

Good luck with it!

Thanks btw you have atleast helped me get the ps3 to update. Before this the ps3 would refuse to update :)

One last thing. When I downgrade can I just put a 3.55 OFW on a flash drive and install it or is there a more complex way. Also should I switch to CEX before downgrading to a OFW?

Hello. I recently bought a new PS3 hard drive (500gb) for my ps3. Then I put the 3.55 updat.pup in PS3/UPDATE/PS3UPDAT.PUP, but when I go to recovery mode and plug in my usb containing the update with nothing BUT the update it says it cannot find the update data. Any fix?
You know I put in a 2TB Hard Drive in my PS4 and the same thing kept happening. I finally realized after hours I was using the wrong .PUP file. The .PUP I was using was just the update but after reading the sony support page I found the full .PUP file (much larger in size).
