Hacking 8.1j N3DS hack help

So I bought a n3ds online and unfortunately have seen that 8.1j is hard to get to 9.2j firmware without some complicated measures. Right now I'm not entirely sure where to start with it.

Its the browser-less version 8.1j, where can I start with trying to get it to 9.2j? do I upgrade to 10.5 and then downgrade or has an easier method been made since all I can find is posts from mid last year.

I also have a 2ds on 9.6 us firmware if that helps at all. I'm sorry if this post has been asked about before but I seem to lack being able to search for it properly.

you cant downgrade from 10.x, your best bet is finding a copy of cubic ninja and a game that can update to 10.3 or below, or using gateway to update to 9.0-9.2

edit: jpn copy of cubic ninja or jpn oot (you will need another ds, any region will do since you just need homebrew to inject the save)

The 9.6,you can try downgrade to 9.2 using sysupdater after you get homebrew running on it

For your jap 3ds, it's easier to downgrade to 4.x using gateway menu and their dg files.

you cant downgrade n3ds below 8.1

I don't have either at the moment as I can't find a reasonably priced version of either.

just get a 2nd hand blue or red card from someone for cheap, someone should sell it for less than $40.

I'm assuming you're talking about gateway blue/red cards? Sorry If I'm mistaken.

sky3ds blue button = rev2
sky3ds orange buttons = rev3

if you can't afford a sky3ds, find a game that has 10.3 or below from 3dsdb and do the downgrade method.

That won't help if he needs the browser to set up menuhax. All game card updates do not contain the browser update file

You can always invest in a cheap Japanese 3ds game that allows you to update to 9.2. It's safer
